Post by: Macskwak on July 04, 2016, 02:14:55 PM
Hi all just a quick question, was wondering if our discs (08) gtr are semi or fully floating. Did a bobbin release n judder went away 👏👏👏😃😃. Only ask as my old Hondas bobbins seemed a lot freer anybody know or even care lol😏😏

I think all or bikes are full floating disks ad I for one and I know man others rotate our bobbins relax and spray brake cleaner on them, it makes a hell of a difference.

I also remove all the pads and clean out the calliper with the wife's toothbrush making sure the crap is put, clean the pads and back in again.

Once a month or after driving in the crap weather is when I do it.

That just gave me a thought...I wonder how an electric tooth brush would work?

Only race bikes use fully floating discs.
Road bikes use semi-floating and some need the rivets cleaning where others don't.
My Arashi discs haven't needed cleaning at all where I had to do the OEM discs every few months.
EBCs don't need cleaning either.

Thanks guys had a feeling they were as the bobbins spin now but not free enough for fingers to turn them but my Hondas were. So racers are fully is that because they're heating up a lot more than normal and need more expansion room to stop warping 🤔🤔 just a thought

My bobbins never spin freely, but they certainly rotate easy enough with my bolt in and after cleaning.

Just back from a 75 mile ride and after cleaning them and the calipers etc I know immediately the front brakes are soooooo much better.
