Title: laminar lip
Post by: T700nny on June 28, 2016, 03:02:02 PM
hi,
fitted my laminar lip at the end of last week and took the bike out for a run last night.
Must say I am quite impressed although wish id placed I slightly higher.
Has anyone bolted their LL to the screen? if so, can you post a pic of the fixings you have used?
As much as the fixings seems secure, I can't help feeling they will detach at speed
thanks

I fitted mine as high as I could using the supplied Velcro type stuff, I did e a couple of clamps and gently squeeze them together, so far in four years at speeds along the German roads around 130mph it's been rock solid.

I do have a spare screen with a laminar lip bolted to is which I have been keeping as a spare but as yet no need for it, the guy whom I purchased it from simply put some rubber disks between the surfaces and nylock nuts.

If it's on right it won't move, trust me 😀

I lost my first one doing 120 on the way home from France. The second one I used flanged bolts with rivet nuts so it looks better.

Thanks folks,
I'll maybe put my trust in the supplied Velcro type fixings and see what happens

Mine is on order and I like the look of the fixings Debs has used. Can't wait to get it fitted as I am sure it will solve the buffeting problem I am experiencing without it.

I've had my laminar lip on for nearly 1000 miles now, and I have to say, when I first got it I though mehh its no better, but now that I am used to it, I am very happy with it.

The wind noise is still there but the buffeting has gone. You don't even have to put the screen fully up to benefit, I get up to speed on the motorway then raise the screen and stop it when the buffeting stops at maybe 3/4 of the way up.

It also seems pretty solid with the standard fixings.

i like and expect some wind noise when riding my bike, its all part of the pleasure

The LL reduces the buffeting experience

My LL now fitted and is a huge improvement. Like OC I can get the wind flow when I want it, but minus the buffeting
My conversion to the lip was induced by OC ( Roger) when we met in Bedale,  he also allowed me to sit on his newly acquired top sellerie seat....yes converted again  :mfr_lol:... my NEW top dollar, top sellerie seat should arrive tommorow, soooo looking forward to fitting it prior to my last two long tours of the year. A real improvement on the standard seat

I fitted a LL on my stock screen as bigalan said mounted it as high as poss.
I have noticed when the screen is down it deflects more against my chest not a problem though.
And when I raise a little it clears the top of the helmet all good
