I reckon we have waited long enough to hear about when repairs/rectification will be effected on our faulty Hotpoint Tumble Dryer, despite several contacts and assurances from the Hotpoint/Indesit/Creda people nowt has been done
So thos morning I'm going to contact them (again) to see if I can get it sorted :gunsmilie:
We took the option of a new condenser dryer for £99 after waiting 6 months. By then the dryer was 4 years old and thought of safety first.
We took advantage of the £49 offer of a new dryer, saving £50 by collecting it from our local Currys :-)
It did seem to take 50 million years for them to contact us though :-(
I contacted Hotpoint today and they said, because of high demand of repairs it could take up to 26th September this year before I get a call. :hammer:
February 2017 I've been told :
We have had three different promises that a date would be made to sort out our Tumble dryer all of which have basically come to nothing
So I've registered again and according to their email response we should expect a contact within two weeks :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: yeah right
Must catch up with the times, still hanging my wash on the line to drip dry :mfr_lol: no maintenance either
engineer arrived today, job done in about 1 hour.
The engineer told me that he alone has repaired approximately 400 dryers so far and he is one of many U.K wide conducting these repairs, he reckons it could take another 12 months before the job is done, in addition they are also repairing other Hotpoint products

:agree: I did the same. The obvious choice.
Cheers
Paul B.
I tried to take that option, however there was no stock remaining,
I mentioned this to the engineer who laughed and added " lots of customers are p☆ssed off about that " :hammer:

Probably more reliable than a k16 tumble dryer. May be all the recent probs with tumble dryers is because they have been built by BMW.

Getting this topic back up and running..
Can anyone tell me what is changed when the engineer comes out to fix these dryers?
I'm still waiting but mine has now packed up.. It won't switch on at all.. It's dead.. I have checked the power and it's going to the PCB Module but that's it..
I need to get it repaired but don't want to pay out if the fix Hotpoint need to do is the same..
:ohplease: Help :hammer:
Debs, I can't answer your question specifically but the engineer replaced a large metal panel on ours, about the size of the whole back panel, he also replaced some internal components, he pretty much took the appliance apart to do this and it took him about 1-2 hours so it wasnt a quick fix.
Debs have you been offered the replacement choice as well as the repair choice, if so it may be better for you to take up the replacement offer, just a thought,
We looked into taking up the replacement offer but at the time Hotpoint didn't have available stock ! ..........no surprises there then eh.
Good luck
Just called them and an engineer is coming out this Saturday.
Hopefully he can get it working again, or at least tell me what's wrong.
Keep us posted
Set it on fire with a blowtorch Debs then they'll have to get you a new one!

I'm hoping the engineer with get it working for free. :mfr_lol:
today's the big day
Engineer just been.
Couldn't do much as the rear plate for the model of my dryer, won't fit the drum that's fitted, so I need a new drum. Re the no power, he has ordered lots of parts and another engineer will need to come to diagnose it..
Hotpoint MUST be owned by the bavarian motor (not)works .... . Similar probs m

Can I change tack slightly to washing machines please :ohplease:
A couple of weeks ago we had a new machine washing delivered and set up,(the set up part is to me quite intregal to my problem I think) a lovely high tech super duper thing but sometimes it makes a truly horrible banging noise on the spin cycle, now it has a 9kg load limit and there is no way we are matching let alone exceeding 9kg, but if we really lighten the load it's silent, the machine doesn't rock from side to side and it feels solid, I've even put a spirit level across the top and it's level.
It's a job good that that we live in a detached property or the neighbours would be quite understandably knocking on our door.
I want to contact Comet/PC world but Julie isn't too keen (????????)
Any ideas ?

The banging is caused by the load being all in one place in the drum.
3 options you have is...
1. Before it goes in to the final spin, open the door and pull the laundry apart from itself.
2. You could take the top off and put some foam down the sides.
3. You can send it back for a replacement but you many find it will still happen.
Other than that there's not much you can do..
Make sure the transit bolts have been removed . :mfr_lol:
