After seeing the mod to use bearings instead of plastic bush on both bmw and our gtrs , I did mine about 2000 mls ago a feel it is stable and adds a nice slick feel to the gear shift .
As far as I can tell looking at the parts all gtr gear lever bushes are the same the kit will consist of 2 bearings , spacer in s/s,2 custom washers , stainless socket head bolt and nyloc safety nut .
If enough peeps would like I can make a kit for £20 + post or send me your lever and I can install send it back, apart from the bearings and hex bolt all are made by me not for any profit just a nice smooth gear lever .
I have posted here to gauge demand to purchase bearings and bolts.

Sorry to ask the question, but can you elaborate?
Perhaps some pics? Had a look at the parts plan and can't make it out?

In the gear lever there is a plastic sleve that wears very quickly making it sloppy most people don't notice, this can be replaced with ball race's that takes any side and slop out of the movement , if you want I can give the sizes of bearings and spacer needed .
This is just a little improvement that make a change that is noticeable once completed.
Charlie
Something like this?

Yes except 2 bearings as one in the middle is not necessary and the bolt has a plane shank so that the inner race will run parallel not on the thread pitch.

Thanks for posting the link I could not find it quickly.
I have that on my bike and being the unfeeling sod that I am could not tell the difference but it is more robust than what came with the bike. I have not had any issues with it.
I'm in Charlie
Me 2, let me get back from Germany mid next week and I will remove my linkage and send it up.
Sounds like a good mod.
Alan
I would be interested in that mod
Yes please
Can the peeps that wanted bearing kits please check there email especially the spam box as I think my email has gone wonky.
Cheers
Charlie
Got it, will endeavour to remove it over the weekend.
Alan
Above all use the right size Allen key in good shape , and the thread on the linkage nearest the engine is LH thread on mine at least.
Hi did you manage to remove your gear lever ?
Charlie
one for me too please Charlie
P.M me your payment details
Ta ...Rog
Mine will be in the post to you in the morning.
Alan
Roger if you can wait to see if anybody else wants a kit as I can buy the bearings 10 at a time much cheaper than in pairs .
Charlie
Charlie, did you receive my 2nd email with my address?

Me neither but I want one.
Actually your gear change is a bolt going through a plastic spacer and it wears out over time, Charlie's mod is to replace the bit with two proper bearings which will give you a smoother gear change and it feels slicker.
I sent my part to him today for modification.

This may sound like a stupid question, but once the bearing is fitted does that mean a different bolt is required as the hole seems smaller, or is that because the original has worn a lot?
Debs the kit is complete I will send you the instructions I wrote tha includes a parts list all a2 grade stainless.
Sounds a good mod, can you send details, do you just send the kit out for fitting? Thanks.

Charlie
I blame piggy malone .
Old Piggy has a lot to answer for.
Money re sent
I'm up for a kit, please pm me payment details.
Do all years have the plastic bush, or did Kawasaki change them for later models?
All the GTR's which I have seen have the usual plastic bush, mine looked ok but was a bit sloppy, my modified one is on its way back to me to be run in nicely. Bike looks a bit sad sat there with no gear came.
Alan
Mine is fitted and no more slop. Nice positive action.    :biker3:
Plastic bush was pretty worn after 70k miles of abuse.
Will get ridden properly on Monday morning but around my local roads feels good and positive.
Thanks Charlie. :flowers:
Thank you all for your interest in the bearing mod I have now sent out /sending all 10 kits by monday , its nice that such a relatively easy mod can make a worthwhile improvement , should anyone require a kit I will restock at the end of this month if there is enough demand once again thanks all.
I can now work on some other things I have on my list and maybe do some jobs of the bosses list .
All the best

Well don Charlie / piggy .
I didn't bother as its a 64 plate shouldn't see this problem or need the kit yet but retain one on the shelf a few years :mfr_lol: :whistling:
Cheers charlie mod fitted ,,,its now nice and snug....just the way i like it !!!!!!
Easy peasy fit great fabrication ta
Fitted mine back on easy enough and altered the angle of the gear change as well, so much better than before, not a single missed gear going up the box and so much more positive going back down, even at the "slow" speeds I was going.
Thanks Charlie
mine arrived today thanks Charley Farley, and well done to Piggy Malone delivery service. :mfr_lol:
I plan to fit it very soon.
Mine arrived, an easy fit.
Thanks Charlie
Mine has arrived and will be fitted next week
300 miles done since fitting mine and loving it.
Gears snick in with minimal effort, nice and positive feel.
Just got a new PR4GT front fitted too so the morning blast along the country lanes is even more enjoyable.
some positive feed back for Charley Farley's ball race gear level. so much smoother than the old one. excellent mod
Moayling has arrived at my house ( we are off to France for the weekend, not as a couple I might add :ohplease: ), but with a few other biker mates. Charlie very kindly sent the kit direct to me and I have been charge with fitting it to Mo's bike prior to setting off. J Mod job now done  Thanks Charlie :biker3:
Good job!
Thanks for prompt supply and updates.
Easy fit (apart from tightening the 13mm nylock! :censored:) and much improved shifting! Thanks Charlie! 👍
Huge thanks to Charlie - I never realised how sloppy my gear lever was until yesterday. Gear changes are now crisp and precise.
Not only did Charlie invite me over to save on the postage (we're only a fast blast apart), but he fitted it for me as well! Great to watch a proper engineer at work. Plus, his good lady made me a coffee. Plus Charlie is a thoroughly nice bloke
Thanks again, Charlie.
Cheers
