Title: needing some help!!
Post by: T700nny on June 09, 2016, 09:34:35 PM
hi folks,
I was re-routing the sat-nav wiring this evening and have dislodged a couple of wires from underneath the ignition switch
can anyone advise how to get the unit off so I can put the wires back in again
it is stopping the ignition from switching on and giving a message about a steering lock error
see pics attached of wires

Removing the ignition switch is not something I have seen done so can't help, but I have added a screen shot of the exploded diagram which contains tha ignition system and hope this may help

I'm sure someone will be along to offer better advice..good luck

The switch is difficult to remove.  It has anti-tamper screws that have to be drilled out...

This might give some guidance but you should have the factory manual handy...

Not much in the manual on it's removal but here is what I have in my online manual.

I've just been and looked and the only wires of the same colour are going into the box in front of the ignition switch from the under side use a small mirror , mine are potted so all you see are wires no plugs my bike is an 09 , also you will need a star security bit to get the switch cover off .
Maybe of some help.

And if you do a look up on You Tube for Concours 14 Ignition Switch, there are some videos that show the innards a bit better.

Looking at the wiring diagram they may have come from the radio module the lump in front of the ignition switch could have come unpluged from the loom , there is on mine a small metal cover on the r/h side under the ignition switch stuff with maybe 2 wires I cant see the actual colours but only small cable sheath .

Fixed it! Ended up having to take off the top yoke to get access to the underside of the ignition switch!, the wires had come out of the steering lock!

Glad its sorted

I was thinking that the connection may have been loose in the first place unless you really caught them whilst re routing for the sat nav.

Anyway I reckon you wont let it happen again
