Title: Spring preload adjustment.
Post by: GTRpilot on June 09, 2016, 06:44:12 PM
Long weekend away tomorrow, first time two up with light luggage. As a ball park adjustment what do peeps dial in for two up riding, (I know everyone is different with regards to tyres, weights of rider and pillion, luggage, etc) but I'm not entering the TT , just gentle touring, bit of M/Way, bit of A roads, average weighted rider and pillion, light luggage, (Although she hasn't packed yet)!! :whistling:
Ta

I may be totally missing the point, but just leave it alone and see how you get on ? We did 1000 miles recently with the suspension just as it was when I bought it, and we both said how comfy it was.  We were comparing to a Triumph 955 Daytona mind

I did have two settings, one for rider only and one for two up, but I've put them somewhere safe  :whistling: so at the moment its set for rider only, should I just dial in a bit more to compensate for shmbo, or just leave it and see  :sweatdrop:

What's the worst that can happen?

When I had my suspension setup by Mick Grant I asked him what changes I need to make when carrying passenger / luggage.

His reply was simple:  "NONE - assuming your not taking your passenger on the track!"

:mfr_lol: :agree:
Even on touring holidays, two up and loaded I've never justified adjustment!
Suppose that's why I've never been that keen on ESA, played with it on a few test rides, but justified...............dunno!
Still happy with the ride after Ktech played with mine, a tad wet riding home on the M6 but felt so more secure.

I've found the GTR rear end to be quite stiff and the front to be even more stiff.  I think if you backed it (rear) off all the way it's still too stiff.  Stiff is ok in other situations, but in this I think it could be softer.

Agreed, the stiffness can tend to result in a 'choppy' ride, my second GTR which was the beautiful Metallic Midnight Sapphire Blue  colour was bloody awful in this respect....strange really
