Title: Top Sellerie ---- aaaaaargh
Post by: O.C. on June 06, 2016, 01:39:33 PM
I've been looking into getting a top Sellerie seat, but need some confirmation from the suppliers first

Its very difficult to contact them via email without resetting google mail, which I don't want to do, and to order from Amazon is a bit problematic as I'm not sure their seats will fit a 2015 model GTR also ordering through ebay isn't any easier as it is extremely difficult to specify extra gel padding on the seat before committing to a purchase.

I'll just have to see if I can contact Top Sellerie

In about 3 weeks time I'll be able to give a 5000 mile review of this:

Cheaper than a new seat

Cheers

Afraid it was a wasted £25 for me, couldn't get on with it at all. When it wasn't moving about!!! It wasn't any more comfy than the seat (std Kwaka) without it on.

I have a top sellerie seat and have had it for three years, it's a touch harder than standard but for me it's perfect.  Same height as standard for long legs like me.

I spoke with the chap from motor bike seats today, he told me that they are also agents for Top Sellerie, and whilst the Top Sellerie seats are very good he recommends their own seats which are used by police forces on their bikes

I'll have to consider what to do.

The seat on my GTR isn't exactly uncomfortable but it could be better, and after the 500 mile round trip this last weekend I feel (or my arse does) that something with more comfort would be better

Have you tried Tony Archer in Huddersfield?

I'd give my Top Sellerie about 7/10. On my trip to Sorrento last year I found it kept pushing me into the tank, which is fine for a quick blast, but on long trips I like to stretch out a little, towards the back of the seat.

Tony Archer is very good he uses the original seat base and then modifies the cushioning to suit, I wanted a complete seat so that I can retain the original OEM seat

You could buy a second hand seat on Ebay, have Tony recover it to your exact requirements and still have change out of £200 :-)

Debs has a base unit for the seat, no foam or cover but you could build something from the base up, give her a shout.

Although after my latest jaunt with pillion I may go back to motor bike seats, very comfy on my last two bikes, and toured with the Pan around southern Germany and Austria, and the Picos, no problem.

http://motorbike-seats.co.uk

ive had 2 from them, melvin from memory . Both seats became hard after 2 years and when I had opened one  up the gel pad portion was only the size of a fag packet and he had used a tescos carrier bag to waterproof the seat beneath the vinyl.

ive had a top sellerie seat and it was great, i just bought one off ebay so didnt have to go through the communication thing.
do you know anyone who can write in french or even try using google translate ?

had 2 seats off him, great seats but dealing with tony now that he is a lot older is not easy . I visited his workshop chasing up a very slow build /not answering the phone ect  and he pointed to a pile of 50 or so seats most still unwrapped  and said its in there somewhere . the seat turned out to be ok but it was just too stressful dealing with him.

Doesn't sound good, how long ago was this, can you recall?

im fairness it was 7 years ago. When gel seats were just getting to be the norm . After the second one went hard I opened it up and he had use basic   chip foam with a recess cut out and a small piece of red lattce gel , honestly it was so small it would make no difference , I asked him about the tescos carrier bag as a waterproof layer , he said he always used what was to hand as a barrier .

Knowing what I know now after 12 seats and 30 years id avoid " local " seat guys unless you stand and watch them . I was more than happy with my top selerie seat and id either go that route again or even try for a russell all day long from the states but they dont ship outside of the usa .
A note on the top selerie. I didnt send back my old seat , swallowed the £55 fine and prompltly sold my stock seat as a zzr1400 seat and got£125 on ebay , its the same fitment and the zzr guys  love them .

Only asked as I have had two seats from Coventry for my Blackbird and Pan ST1300, both were good, but they were more recent.

I just bought a Top Sellerie from one of our forum members.

I had a quick blast across to the Lake District and back yesterday and the seat is very comfortable, Gill has yet to try the pillion on the road but seems happy that it will be ok.

So I'm a happy bunny. The OEM seat on this latest model GTR is better than in the past but the Top Sellerie is slightly better

The new seat is it standard or with the gel inserts they advertise.
Also is there any different in the seat hight compared to stock seat
Title: Re: Top Sellerie ---- aaaaaargh

I compared them together when I got the Top Sellerie and I couldn't visually see much if any difference, after a ride last Wednesday I couldn't feel much difference either apart from finding the Top Sellerie slightly more comfy, also it doesn't feel as if it pushes me forward as much as the OEM seat.

The OEM seat on my latest model GTR is slightly narrower and more comfortable than previous GTR OEM seats.

All in all I'm pleased with it

Just noticed your question about gel inserts......I bought it used so TBH I'm not sure if it does have the inserts.....I will check and let you know

Hi Pross,

I have done a bit of research and I'm fairly sure my seat does not have gel inserts....

Here's a couple of  pics, (quickly taken with my smartphone), which I hope may help to show a comparison

The dimensions are almost exactly the same for both seats, except the TS seat has more bum/back support

I had the good fortune to meet up with OC on Sunday (26th June) and I had just spent all day in the saddle, so was able to "feel" the difference betwen the standard seat and the top sellerie fitted on OC's bike.....it was a massive improvement and felt really comfortable, It certainly moves the pressure points and stopped me from sliding slightly forward. I am convinced, so if anyone has a top sellerie seat for sale please let me know...thanks

Well I have bit the bullet and bought a new Top Sellerie seat. I saw it advertised by an Italian Top Sellerie distributor. I got it for £30 off normal retail and the real thing that tipped the balance was it has green stitching and lettering and matches my bike perfectly, plus it was the last one

Other little mods done are Delkevic carbon can fitted, Laminar Lip, and Charlies gear lever mod....did fit grip puppies but could not get on with them, now residing in a good home.
