Hello
Is there a way to remove the Upper Fork holder while the bike is on it's wheel?
I am wondering if I have to remove the entire fork to be able to swap this part (it is damanged on mine)
It's the red part here:

Thanks
I have just had a look at the manual and it seems simple enough, just remove the handlebars and the locking clamps on the top and take your time, I would tend to support the bike under the engine just in case, remember I have not done this myself but it looks ok.

:agree:, the important thing is to support the bike with a jack under the engine to keep the weight off the front forks ( neutral weight). Measure the distance from the top of the yoke that you are removing, to a point at the top of the fork adjusters. Replace the new yoke at the same measured point down the front fork tubes. Hope this makes sense ?.
You must take the weight off the forks as stated above with the jack or you will never get the replacement on as the stem twists slightly when only through the bottom clamp
How did you damage it ,
I had some brake fluid split after a service at kawasaki in Paris
The hot fluid atacked the paint.
After that day I stopped servicing my bikes via official ''expert''
So, the process would be to ensure that the front wheel is not touching the ground before removing the part?
The front forks should be as well supported as possible and the previous advice given by other members is, in my humble opinion, good advice. I dont think this task is a major one and can be completed by a competent owner.
Make sure you have all items available before you start and then you should be able to complete the job fairly easily
Keep us posted
I had some time yesterday to check the manual and here it what it says:
See attached
It does not says that the bike should be jacked...

It might not say that but I bet at a dealers getting the work done the would indeed support the weight of the bike, you don't need to lift the front right up but simply take the majority of the weight off the forks. Seems sense to me but I am not the one doing it. Good luck.

:agree:...it is okay to have the front wheel touching the ground, but with the weight off it. It ensures the front forks do not twist or move once the top section has been removed. It easier to do in practice, but as per O.C said...take your time, note where everything comes off from and replace in reverse.
Thanks
I have ordered the new part so once I get it I'll tell you how it went
Thanks
The manual also doesn't mention supporting the front when changing the headstock bearings........
