after my 1500 mile trip around Scotland with the wife, the panniers have become very scuffed from the wife getting on and off the bike. So I decided to remove the rubber paint and see how the panniers had got on.
First some pictures of the rubber paint scuffed
next removing the rubber paint
and the panniers still look like new
they looked well protected.
What was the name of the paint and was it early to apply or did you have them sprayed
hi pross

cheers
thats really good and pross asked the same question that was on my mind
So i read this as a very good advice if we will take the wifey on the bike..
:mfr_lol:
Thx for posting, can use that for different purposes :punk:
spot on beegee...lol
I've given up on the scuffs. I put them on as much as my wife does. I do have the clear protectors on and I guess I could try to clean them off the plastic but it seems a lot of work to do just to have them come back. Same as with washing the bike. It always gets dirty again. I don't understand it all.
I have the clear protectors on mine. Ok they protect the paint work but are really scuffed and looks bad..
The only choice is to ride without the panniers on, but that's not going to happen.

Hey Debs, I have the clear protectors and they do show the marks but I have found a gentle rub with Tcut removes most and they do not look to bad. I ride without panniers locally and only fit them for touring.... just curious, why are you reluctant to ride without panniers ???

I agree about the clear film it looks marked.
I have to admit I ride more without panniers than with the main reason I can't get the bike in my shed with them fitted it's a pain to keep putting on and off so just ride without and enjoy the bike
I think the GTR looks daft without panniers. And where do you put your waterproofs, puncture kit etc. I see loads of them being ridden without panniers and it makes me cringe; sorry.

:agree:
Riding without panniers is like wearing a big winter jacket and nothing else.

Now that's an entirely different topic

Top box does the job for me and when I am riding the bike I do not see it other than from the riding position, and from there the bike looks stunning :biker3:
I can't see the point in riding round with a top box which has only a few items in it and two empty panniers
I shall be arriving at the Belfry with just a top box and no panniers....besides I only carry a stick and some panties ...apparently :mfr_lol:
Panniers are removable for a reason.
Try and keep up with me filtering on the M25 and you will soon see why.
Mine are nice and new looking as they have maybe 3000 miles on them.
Bike has 69k miles.
Bike will arrive at the Belfry with the panniers on.
It will leave on Sunday with them too.
Otherwise it will be pannierless so please avert your eyes. :mfr_lol:
