I see a lot of banter on here between the GTR and BMW riders, if this is a GTR forum and BMW riders are members of the GTR forum, doesn't it make them GTR wannabees? You know only being here because they are in awe and admiration of our GTR machines and wishing that they had never ventured into the world of BMW  :whistling:. Could be wrong but just saying.....

Well done. You have hit the nail on the head. They always regret leaving but just can't admit it!!

No he's not. He's just being proactive. You never know who might show up at his door one day.

Add me to the list, Wolfie.. :mfr_lol:
I did look at BMW's when deciding on a new bike but just couldn't get the smug, aloof look down pat, plus I wanted something that I could actually be smug and aloof about so I went for the 1400 GTR :smartass: :mfr_lol:

They are on here waiting for their bikes to be repaired under warranty no doubt, or on here scouting to see where we will be riding so they can meet us on the road and ignore . (Or it could be they can't take a hand off the switchgear in case it breaks) (common fault)

Hmmmmm some of us came from BMW and would never go back!
But I did go Austrian instead!
Katie goes places the GTR can't reach! (Unfortunately).

Went that route but with the 1190 adventure, found I was too exposed to the weather, did not really go off road that much and got fed up with cooked inner thighs from engine heat ( ok on cold days). So pleased to have found the GTR.....suits me sir..
I've gone down the 1290 SA.... I now live in the lake district, and work is less than 10miles away (at its furthest). The GTR doesn't make sense anymore.
But there are a few proper - bolder filled dry lake beds and tracks (used by Kannko - vhttp://www.kankku.co.uk).
its awesome, got wet, muddy, air-time and all within an hour (or less).... although I got my GTR airborne on some country lanes, its just too heavy to do stuff like this... :-)
for the times of long distance travel - theres enough protection and I don't get the common thread about excessive heat.
but each to there own. GTR would be in the garage again if I needed to do lots of motorway miles..... <--- the avatar shows it also does the twisty stuff - but not offroad :-(
Neil
Do not do motorway miles ( if I can absolutely avoid it), all my riding is on the scenic routes whenever possible. I do at least three European tours a year and nary a motorway in sight. The GTR handles these type of roads fantastically well and rides and keeps up with the best of them....why would you want to be stuck on motorways ????
I can see your point in respect of taking the bike off road, that aspect of biking is now off limits for me ( unsurfaced roads etc are fine). As you say each to his own and if I was doing serious off roading then the GTR would not be my bike of choice, as it is I have the perfect bike in the perfect colour :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
I had thought of changing my gtr after doing a thousand twisty roads in the Austria Alps ,but could not part with it , so got a Ktm 1050 adventure which is a fantastic bike and the one I shall be going on to do the ring of Kerry in Ireland in the next two weeks , I now have the best of both worlds and take which bike is most suitable for the trip I am going on , :biker3:
