Hi All
The picture shows a headlight bulb from my 2009 GTR, this is different to the bulb specified in the manual for this model. Can anyone tell me if this is a modification? or is the manual incorrect?
The specified bulb is a lot smaller and i think just a standard headlight bulb.
As long as it's a H4 and fits then nothing to worry about..
Hi Debs,
Not all ok i am afraid its melted the bulb connector.
Ive insulated it and have booked it into the dealer on Saturday morning. One thing i never take risks with is my safety when it comes to electrics.
As per Debs...if it's H4 it should be ok. Possibly the one that you are removing is incorrect, or there is some sort of short in the wiring causing the connector to overheat....whatever, it needs checking and replacing. good luck.
Chuck it!
If the connectors melted, it's probably a 100W headlight lamp, folk think it's the logical upgrade to get more light, but also pulls more current (risk of wiring melt)
and generates a :shit: load more heat!
Debs is spot on, standard H4 lamps, but get some quality ones, I use Osram Nightbreakers myself, a cleaner, brighter light, but still rated the standard 55 watt so legal and won't cause the issue that this one has!
Thanks for the feedback guys
Yes the bulb says on it "H4 but 12v 100/90w P43T E4 HV UV"
I will let you know what the dealer says on Saturday.
prepare to lose the skin from the back of your hands when replacing the bulbs, as well as losing your patience and the remainder of you hair :mfr_lol:

Geez, that's way too much heat/current for the standard connector. I like the standard H4 that came with the bike. It lasts a very long time. I tried one of those more light, white light H4s and it didn't last as long. Don't ride as much at night anymore so I don't need the light of God lighting up my way and pissing everyone off including Bob.
I run the Philips X-treme bulbs.
Excellent colour and brightness and long life.
On my GTR1000 I have an HID conversion but that is single headlight.

:mfr_lol: :agree:
Others have stated what a simple job it is. I'm with OC on this one. I found it a complete PITA!

Problem solved!
No silly kit added to the bike just massive bulbs which were drawing too much current.
Dealer wired in a new pug and changed the bulbs all good
Good result
voila. ..job done

:agree: eventually employed the hands of my daughter to faff around doing it. First off she has smaller hands, and second it doesn't sting me when she cuts her hands
