Title: G'day from Australia
Post by: greeny on May 17, 2016, 11:33:38 AM
G'day everyone,  My name is Phil I live in Ipswich in Queensland Australia, I am 56 and came to Australia from Leeds when I was 12.
I bought a new 2016 1400GTR a few weeks ago, it's keeping my 08 Nomad company, I am loving the smoothness and power of the GTR and plan to ride many a long mile on it.
Cheers

Hi Phil,

My wife is obsessed with moving to Australia and I am not so keen.  One of the reasons is my perceptions of the boring, straight roads.  Can you clarify what the roads are like please?  We are visiting Melbourne and Perth for a week each in July but probably won't get a chance to get out on a bike.  Which city would be the best for riding?

Thanks.

You are right, there are some long boring roads in Australia, because Australia is a huge place. The great riding roads far outweigh them though.
All the Cities have some great riding roads surrounding them and probably all would lay claim to being the best. Being from Brisbane I am biased and think that our surrounding roads in South east Queensland are terrific, particularly in the Gold Coast hinterland to the south and the Sunshine Coast ranges to the North, both with some great roads and scenery.
Hope you enjoy your stay in Perth and Melbourne hopefully you'll get to sample the riding roads and get rid of that perception of the long boring roads.
Cheers

G'day Greeny and welcome.

I am off to the welsh mountains on Thursday for a four days on the GTR with a few mates. Weather looks a bit like liquid sunshine on Saturday  So we would rather be riding up the gold coast   :biker3:
