Title: GTR SMASHED!
Post by: Boomer on May 05, 2016, 10:49:02 PM
Had a bit of a down on the way home tonight. ABS probably would have helped.
Car in front was hit by a blue BMW coming the other way. I braked hard to not hit either and the front wheel locked.
GTR1000 has a lot of busted plastic and a bent fairing frame but runs fine.
I am heavily bruised and some small grazes but nowt broken.

BMW tosser just drove off.  :death: :tank: :shit: :gun_bandana: :censored: :2guns:
May need to invest in some cameras for the bikes as am getting sick of arseholes doing a runner after doing a stupid.

Woman driving the car in front was shaken but OK. Damaged front wing and wing mirror.

Gutted to hear what happened to you George, glad you got out of it without anything too serious, but you'll probably be sore tomorrow.  Sounds like your pride and joy will cost a few quid to put right though. I think a camera will be a wise choice with all the commuting you do. Get well soon mate.

The main thing is you are ok. Bikes can be fixed people are more complicated.

Hoping it's a quick heal for you and the GTR's a straightforward repair.
Really hoping Karma exists towards the BMW driver,  you can't dish that out without expecting it back at some point!

Get Well Soon, I'm glad things  don't sound too serious in terms of injuries; the mad b******d might have caused something MUCH more serious.

It beggars belief that anyone would ever drive away from such an incident, especially when there's a biker and bike on the road behind the rest of the carnage they caused...

Glad to hear you're not badly hurt. Pain in the :asshole: getting the bike fixed now

On the upside, you walked away from it relatively unscathed, which is great

Hope you and the bike mend soon.

Cheers,

Paul B.

Glad you ok.    I'm sure some cameras somewhere would pick him up.

Thanks peeps, it was on a country lane so no cameras nearby.
Bike needs new fairing cowl and left side as well as the inner and the fairing frame.
Also need a new centrestand and a few other minor bits.
I have most of it in my spares collection, except the cowl and centrestand.
Looks like about £300 in bits and about 30hrs work

I have a purple egg on my left hip and an achy chest and left arm, oh and both thumbs hurt.
But nothing Paracetamol and Ibuprofen can't handle.  :wheelchair:

And here are some pics of the damage to the bike.
I would include a pic of my blue left hip but it's not pretty even without the 8" diameter bruise.  :asshole:

Ok - you have the photo evidence, maybe with time and date and possibly registration or name of driver of the damaged car. Why? well you have a failing to stop and the circumstances are exactly the same as a solicitor friend of mine who put a successful claim to the Motor Insurers Bureau. It's there for such accidents and as the solicitor said to me afterwards, there was no apportionment of blame to challenge the outcome. Let us know how you get on, please, as I've taken the time to advise you.

I've just seen your photos. Did you get the ladies name and did you blank out the registration?

Just seen this thread ... really sorry to read of your bad news but as others have said and I fully endorse this line of thinking ..." the bike can be replaced .. you can't " ..Mend well old fruit.

I didn't get her name as she was blameless.
All she did was try to avoid a serious accident with a d**k who couldn't drive worth  :shit:.
I have her registration but I blanked it out before posting on here.
Not really worth claiming on insurance as have sourced a fairing upper from a friend in Austria and a fairing frame from ebay.
Now just need a centrestand and the time to prep and respray all the plastic and reassemble.

Thanks for the reply - I would probably have dealt with the issue as you have done.  I did, however, think it worth discussing the MIB for those unaware of that alternative. Glad you are well and have fully recovered enough to start repairs!!
