My GTR ready for leaving York for the race that ran from Otley to Doncaster

Looks good :punk:
How was the weather for the race ?
we got a good soaking on the way to York on Friday, the race was fine and dry on Saturday and then torrential rain on way to Scarborough and then on Sunday the sportif event only had a few light showers. A good weekend despite the rain.
comments on the U.K. versys 1000 forum suggest that Versys 1000s were being used as race/support bikes....good to see a GTR there
There were 2 GTR's from NEG riders on the women's race and a few French GTR's carrying race officials that I saw
Apparently the Versys' were in a strange colour, and I don't think it was Brown :mfr_lol:
My GTR was on the men's race and there were two Police GTRs as well from West Mercia. One of them had to refuel on Friday and Sunday as they were 120 mile stages and he was not riding with any level of mechanical sympathy. Mine managed all stages without needing to refuel but I did have to have it on ECO mode on the final stage and only had 20 miles spare when I finished so I was sweating a little :mfr_lol:
Generally it's a great bike for the job :-)
That flag on your helmet must cause quite a bit of drag too!
Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
:mfr_lol: a lovely Yorkshire flag

With a bit of luck I can start my NEG training this month
Baby is ready and waiting.

Thanks for sharing Patrick, good to see that decent weather prevailed, what is you official function at the event, I'm guessing to add to the Police presence in an escorting capacity
Two further questions..... is your camera mounted to the Brake Reservoir and what type of camera is it ?
Debs we expect a report on your progress good luck...watch out NEG Debs is approaching
The NEG have a number of roles at a major event. The majority are junction bikes who, as you say, reinforce the Police bikes; the police close the road and the NEG keep it closed to let them press on to the next junction. These bikes don't overtake each other as they use the caterpillar system.
There are also safety bikes who move forward and make the cyclists aware of any hazards to them; bollards, cattle grids, roundabouts, parked vehicles etc by getting off their bikes and flagging the direction the cyclists should pass and blowing a whistle to make them aware of the flag. After the cyclists pass, they are then behind the convoy so have to move forward through the peloton and forward as fast as possible to the next, unmarked hazard. These riders use the leapfrog system and are the more experienced and skilled riders as they get the closest to the riders.
There are also other roles where experienced riders can carry commissaires, photographers, judges, blackboard and other race officials. These riders are usually more experienced as they also get close to the riders but their speeds are usually much lower as they don't often need to stop.
The camera bikes are usually ex NEG riders but aren't part of the team as they have their own jobs and structure and are contracted by the TV organisers. Their job is the hardest of anyone as they are always close to the riders, even on downhill sections which are very dangerous and they carry a pillion who is himself carrying a big camera up high, often standing up and moving around.
I hope that helps

Yes it does....Thank you
My role was junction bike and due to a big split neg bikes and 5 police bike dropped back. Usually a police bike would be immediately in front of the riders but was left to lead the 20 or so riderd while the ploice and fellow neg chaps kepy my path clear.
Camera is mounted on a ball mount and extension fitted on the brake reservoir clamp
Camera is drift ghost hd, and recording wss in 720 hd at 50 frames per sec which gives good quality using less memory space. It recorded for just over 4 hours continuously and the cards was only about 80 percent full

Ram mount fitted on bars. short and long extentions in this photo but I only use the long one now. The camera then has ram mount ball screwed into tripod mount.
cheers Patrick, that arrangement looks good, I can see that it will shift the camera away from behind the screen
I have fitted a ProjektD handy stick which should allow me to fit my gopro in a similar way
I need the camera wide out especially when the screen sign is fitted
great stuff :biker3:

I sold my drift ghost a while back and opted to a permanent one fitted to the bike. I may consider getting another though as I do like them.
Hi Patrick
Hi Debs
Just ordered a new GTr As selling my GTR was a mistake BYE BYE versy nice bike but not for me.
Not adding to much to this one for NEG work going to try and keep it shiny
Been picked for the womens tour but on peleton safety much prefer junction bike playing with the traffic
