Title: Have you...? Would you...? amd if you have.... WHO!
Post by: Stolichnaya on April 18, 2016, 05:28:13 PM
Hello there.  right off the bat....  i have a 2010 GTR

Ive seen various odds n sods on ECU flashing and the butterflies things but there doesn't seem to be anything that nails both these things in one post.  It seems like its a good mod but there is the traction side of things that's a trade off but for me...  i not have a bike with Traction and never had a problem with spin so why am i worried!

Can anyone that has had 1 or both done give us the plusses/minuses.  who did it, happy with the work/results?  Just as importantly is there anything to be wary of or DO NOT DO's ?

I'm in Cambs and would like to know if anyone with a bike that's been done near(ish) me and who did it.  Does it improve/make worse mpg

if there is a techie on here that's had it done and can pop it in plain language all the goods/bads it would be great
cheers
Stoli

Took my Ktm 990 to bsd in Peterborough for a remap and it made a world of diffrence ,he does mcn bikes , and British super bike teams bikes and knows his stuff , I had my gtr fitted with a powercomander and mapped to work with that from a place at Grimsby , but if I had to do it again I would take it to him , not to far from you ,

Had mine flashed by  https://sites.google.com/site/shoodabenengineering/  Search for the concours 14 flash. If you hop onto the concours owners group    http://concours.org/forum1  And search SISF ECU FLASH (he is the owner and member) there is lots of info about the flash.IMO its the best mod I have done.So much smoother and power all the way through the rev range.MPG wise I haven't noticed any difference as yet but he does not alter the standard eco map. :gunsmilie:

I can certainly attest that my MPG went up and the bike has more power lower down.  I can't say it's smoother as my bike was smooth before the flash.  Just as smooth afterwards, like my head.

I had my bike Put on a rolling road at Hilltop Motorcycles who reside at 24/30 High Street, Earl Shiton, Leicestershire LE9 7DG and have never looked back.

As stock the map is set to a general setting, after three runs through on the dyno we had improved the BHP at the rear wheel from 126 to 152 and the Torque from 87Ft/lb to 101Ft/lb

The smoothness of the throttle had been improved loads and it became a pleasure to ride, fuel economy was better and I was a happy bunny, ok so it cost £325 but in my opinion it was well worth the investment.

ive had a chat with Hilltop
seems the ECU flash and 2nd butterflies are a pair of things that need to be done at same time.  £320+VAT ride in ride out.  The guy was really nice to talk to and said he'd be able to dial out 60% of throttle snatch too...

Only issue i have is - i asked what the next weekend he had free was.....  NOVEMBER!!!!

sigh...

just in time for winter.I can highly recommend steves flash (sisf). as daisy said he has put a lot of time and road miles on developing the map.All you send him is the ecu and his map sorts the secondary butterflies out.

I left butterflies alone, just had the remap with them still in, are you unable to go during the week rather than a weekend? I went midweek and only waited a coule of weeks tops.

The guy told me one went with the other. Flash and butterflies renoval to be done together. He said the only way one would be fine was if one bit was a certain part and he wouldn't know until he plugged the bike in. Something to do with the butterflies

I've already booked my entire holiday entitlement so mid week would mean a day unpaid. So that makes it very expensive!!

I'd like it done but is it really £360 worthwhile. That's the question I have to answer.

Whoops  :embarrassed:

I'm on the hunt for a UK based flasher, if you know what I mean. I see someone on eBay offering a remap for £135 for other kwaks but he doesn't do the GTR.

My searches for a UK based mail in ECU flash service have not proved very successful, does anyone know of any?

Found this post from some way back: -

"Had my GTR ECU Flashed today by John at Track Electronics near Norwich 01603 263939
WoW what a massive improvement 13% less fuel big gains throughout the rev and torque curves all restrictions taken off
And he's a nice guy best £180 I've spent in a while
Really pleased with it"

I believe he will do a "post" jobbie for less than that as there's no Dyno work involved.  He uses a flash from previous GTRs that worked

After much deliberation I'm booked into Hilltop for the end of May.

For the price of an end can I'll have the ECU flashed, money better spent I think. It's a bog standard bike so the results might be interesting.
