Title: Hello from Sheffield too
Post by: sidneyworm on April 12, 2016, 07:31:05 PM
Hi I'm Richard, recently bought my first GTR1400 which turns out was Debs' old bike.  Always had a bike - here is my list from start to finish - Triumph 350, Yamaha YR5, Triumph 6T Thunderbird (bought at 17 and following sitting in the loft for 30 years I recently finished restoring it and its now on the road),  Honda 250 K4, Suzuki GT380, Suzuki GT500 - at this point I decided to get a motorbike licence!  :single fuck:, to continue ... Honda Goldwing - DON'T EVER GO THERE - BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER MADE!, Kawasaki Z1300 (still got - wife says this has got to me my next project), Suzuki GT750 (still got - next project just don't tell the wife), Kawasaki ZZR1100 (still on the road),Yamaha YR5 - current project, Kawasaki GTR1400 acquired 19 March - love it, comfort and speed combined.  Hopefully see some of you at a meet in the summer sun.

great intro and welcome again,

Reading your list of bikes makes me realise how much I miss my Triples, I also owned a lovely Candy Lavender GT 750 Kettle

Im not really familiar with the 60s Triumphs but is your 6T  bathtub or bikini fairing? Maybe an earlier model

Post some pictures of your bikes it would be great to see them

Debs earlier 'baby' was alwzys well cared for, so I'm sure you will have lots of fun and enjoyment riding it

I seem to remember back in the distant past, if memory serves, a picture of the late great Barry Sheene riding a 750 kettle on the road. If it's good enough for him... :mfr_lol:

Here are a few photos, will have to dig out the old printed photos for the oldies and scan them in.

So thats the ZZR1100, the mid restoration YR5 and the restored Triumph 6T. Will try and find the others shortly.  What and when is the fun in the forest please?  oh and yes that is a bottle of camping gas on the back of the ZZR = ran out of gas in France and the only way to fetch a refill was using the bike !!

Never knew that Triumph as a 6T - the half bikini fairing was obviously a 'TwentyOne'.

Funny you should mention that, cos following the grovelling phone call we received from a guy called Russell at Hotpoint on 3rd March 2016 assuring us that all would be resolved with our faulty dryer, by the end of March 2016 absolutely nothing has happened

The dryer is still functioning, the condenser, still being regularly cleaned and the rest of the appliance is also kept spotless, so for now I'm not expecting any action from Hotpoint.

Oh BTW Hotpoint your service is  :shit: and I've got a message for ya all  :single fuck:

I've had no response from Hotpoint since I filled in the online reporting form.

We no longer buy Hotpoint goods, or any made under other names by them since a problem arose with a six - month old freezer last year and the response from them was worse than hopeless. (The local Euronics dealer that I buy from spoke to them independently and said that he had never heard of such appalling treatment and would take it up at the next regional meeting).

From our perspective all turned out well, as the supplier removed parts from a unit on display to fit to ours, however I said that in future Hotpoint would have no business from us and I mean it.

Until that time we had a washing machine, freezer, fridge and tumble drier made by them, all less than two years old. We have since replaced all but the freezer with quality items, something that seems not to feature in Hotpoint products of late.

:goodpost: I agree

I reckon this fiasco will prompt other customers to do just the same, and that will cost Hotpoint  a great deal of business, like you Flatfour, I too will not be buying their products again

Interesting to note that their letterhead also names Creda and Indesit, I wonder if those brands are equally as reliable

Same stuff, different badges.

I must be one of the lucky ones. Condenser drier was replaced (for £99 inc delivery and removal of old one) a couple of weeks ago. The alternative was a repair in September sometime (I think it was September...)

Cheers

Hi Debs, loving every minute on her, last weekend when we finally got a bit more sun went over the Woodhead Pass to Manchester which is a bikers perfect ride, through the twisty roads of the moors and tiny villages - loads of bikers on the road too, she rode like a dream.  Very comfortable compared with my ZZR1100, seems much lighter, less wind with the screen, just the back brake seems as though its useless even though I've had it on a rolling road and its working to MOT standard, the back brake on my 1965 Triumph even though its a drum stops better than the GTR.  Just have to get used to it as the ZZR1100 back brake was spot on.  Got a question for you - did you have lights in the panniers wired up?  We can see the wires inside the panniers but the connectors don't go anywhere?  Just in the process of fitting the sat nav I got from OC ready for a european trip next year as this years holidays are already sorted.  Off next week to Dijon Prenois to watch MotoLegende Coup de moto at the circuit.  Sadly not going on bike as I've got to take a load of tools to our house in France, plus the weather forecast is awful! but definitely intend to make a visit to France on her this year.  When you went touring could you get over 250 mile from a tank full?  Just got a tyre from Viper - dont' need it yet but it was a bargain.  I'm looking after her - locked up tight and under a cover every night.
