Title: Givi rack or Phil fingy ?
Post by: UncleBigBad on March 22, 2016, 09:18:29 PM
Hola! What are people's experiences of the Givi SR410 luggage rack for the GTR ? I'm told it's either that or one of Phil's newfangled plates. Givi rack is cheaper so why not just go for that ?

Sorry if this is yet another dumb ass noob question!!!
Cheers

The Givi offering has extra bracketry that (to me) looks messy.

Phil's fingy is a much more elegant solution and worth the little extra, imho.

This is one of Phils / hero blobs plates with the monokey lugs on I think that was an extra £10 if I remember correctly
The box fits straight on to it no other plate required and its machined 5mm plate for the monokey box

It's not a little extra though  :mfr_lol: at £151 for the fingy with monokey lugs vs £80 for the Givi kit. I have to agree however it is a neater looking answer that doesn't need the back end taking apart.

I was looking at Phil's fingy for £143 from Heroblobs (c/w mounting lugs) and £89 for the SR410 from motorcycleplanet.co.uk

I take your point though. The extra 50% in price is more than a little. Bad choice of words on my part

£50+ and the only plastic involved is the actual topbox.

IMHO I think it is more secure than a double plastic sandwich under the box and looks a lot cleaner.

This is the second bike my plate has been on fit the standard back if I sell the bike  :mfr_lol:

I made my own out of 2mm stainles and bolted a Givi universal plate on the top, course you can buy the mushrooms and monokey clamp on thier own to negate the Givi plate.
Sure I have a template at home.PM me and I'll try and dig it out.

I fit the Givi sr410 to my last GTR, it is a very solid and safe item, BUT be warned its a bit of a pig to install

I have a Phils Farkles plate on my current GTR, it is solid secure looks good and can be installed in 10 minutes

So its a no brainer for me.......Phils Farkles plate every time
