Anyone installed brake lights in there topbox? Got a Givi 55L Maxia, thinking of installing Givi brake light kit into it. Easy or difficult.
Yup. I "inherited" the set up from my original ZRX some years ago, so the base plate and the top box were already wired. I just had to splice into the braking wiring under the seat and the job was done. It works well IMO

Thanks.
Did it on mine, on a Maxia, no probs, been moved on 3 bikes now!
The proper Givi connector is the mutts nuts if you have that, and once the brake light wires identified no probs.
Aux wiring in the GTR rear allows connection of charging point or remote release lock on the same connector for the Maxia also (thought that was a gimmick at first but the ability to open remotely is a blessing!)
yep, I've got the Givi stop light kit for the Maxia 55L box.
Looking at the kit, do you need a Givi specific base plate to mount the base connector, I've got one of phil's farkel base plates with monokey fittings? Possible to fit to that?
Think you're going to need a Givi Monolock plate, E250 / E251, which has a plastic pushout where the Givi connecter seats.
Think on the pharkle you'll be looking to line / drill and hope good alignment, never seen one but I can't see the hole for the Givi connector. Givi plate will readily mount on the pharkle though.
Course, you could box mount on the pharkle and drill / grommit a lead from LED's through the back of the box to go under the seat on a connector? Not best plan but an option!
I got the Pharkle plate with monokey fittings to mount the box straight onto, as it seemed sturdier and I wasn't keen on the plastic ones, then I got the bigger top box which fits great.....then I got the brake light kit, not realising how it's set up :censored:
Must try and do things in a more logical order
There is definitely no hole for the connector in the Pharkle plate, might have to shell out on a Givi plate if I can't connect or just bin the brake light option :shit:
If you just need a round hole in the plate use a tank cutter in a drill just buy the size needed if it's in the plate I can't see that weakening anything

Tank cutter? I'll have a look.
I better use the proper name .
You are looking for hole saw cutters :mfr_lol: that's what we in the job called them sorry

Ah  Cheers.
Before you attempt cutting hole, suggest you have a good look at a Givi plate as a template to ensure that you know where the connector will fit, as this does recess into a hole in the bottom of the top box, alignment has to be be pretty good, and law of S*d means the hole will overlap a milled slot in the farkle plate!
If the box is gonna be on 99% of the time, like most are for storage and sarnies, get a Givi Plate on there!
Efficiency is better than appearance! ( ask the wife - must be why she's still with me! :undecided: )

My history of accurate DIY is less than rubbish, so Givi will be the way :whistling:

As with lights, if you're in any doubt or need a hand let me know.

Many thanks
as an add-odd to this thread....

Any piccies available ?
thanks up front and all that :-)

I added a fuze block under the seat and that powers my sat nav, rear bullets, front DRLs, USB power into top box and connection for battery tender. Its powered from the accessory connector under the rubber boot at the front behind LH fairing.
Tapped into rear brake lights for the lights in the top box :sweat drop:
GPS is powered from front accessory connections, under left hand fairing tucked up inside the black boot covering.
I sound like an expert :nono: :whistling:

I'm at the "work out where the power come from" point. Did you pick up rear light, brakes and indicators from the rear cluster on the bike, or did you come further "into the bike" to find them ?
Sorry - sure I'm making it out to be harder than it is !?!?
Cheers
Lead coming from the rear cluster.
 I failed to thank you all for your help - am now all sorted with running lights, brakes and twinkers in the top box
Thank you
