I would remove the complete mirror, turn it upside down and drill the head of the screw off, and replace it.

Are you saying a screw you were removing has a kn'ackered head, or a screw you were putting in has stripped the thread due to overtightening ?

A pic might help.

Deb is trying to be helpful there and may understand what you mean as I believe shes had mirrors to bits before, but be careful drilling heads off small screws ! its usually the only means of getting them out without specialist tools.

If it's big enough for a pilot hole screw extractors will remove it easily a decent set around for screws and bolts £ 12.
A cheaper one that will still do the job with screws around £4

3 Torx screws under the mirror in a sort of triangle. The one closest to the fairing was the one I was trying to remove to install a running light bracket. The head is not completely stripped but the T20 Torx driver won't bite enough to grip. Was trying to replicate snowrO's install.

The good news is the one on the other side came out ok  :sweatdrop:

are you able to cut a slot in the head and then use a blade screwdriver?

I think they are recessed

Yes, they are recessed, this is the perfect example why I don't do DIY 😨

Thinking of tapping a blade screwdriver gently into it to see if some purchase is possible.
