Title: Universal cruise control by bike it. Anyone fitted
Post by: Stolichnaya on February 15, 2016, 10:12:54 PM
Hi all

I bought a Bike It Universal Cruise Control and have spent two hours trying to fit it. Followed instructions etc but there doesn't seem to be room for the mount near the switch gear etc

I've moved things and jigged about but when it's on everything is too far to the right and throttle sticks. Very frustrating

Question is, has anyone got this on and can you post up a photo please so I can see how you've set it

Thanks n scratchy head!!
Stoili

I've not to hand. If you google image Universal Motorcycle Cruise Control you'll see it. Very common.

It is supposed to mount on bars next to brake mount and then on throttle. With a bar connecting. Thumb operation hold the clutch

Trouble with mine is that there isn't a deal of room for the bar side mount. I've moved everything as much as loss to right. Fitted but now the throttle won't return. Its it too tight either.

Frustrated.

ive fitted one before to a zzr1200, hard to commentr without seeing something . personally I think they suck and you would be better off with a simple O ring that sits on the grip and then  you roll into the gap between the throttle and the plastic housing and back out again

a redneck invention that does work, actually it rolls between the grip and bar end

Scottoiler Crampbuster works well for me, cheap fix and easily swapped!

Suffer with carpel tunnel a tad as well and works so well for that, just rest your wrist on it!

Anything mechanical restraining / tensioning the throttle really does concern me, hand off / brake / clutch is foolproof aiming towards stopping! Guess that's why the proper jobs are so pricey.

This is the same item  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-friction-type-motorcycle-handlebar-cruise-control-/172096376822

The issue I have is that the silly GTR switchgear does not  sit flush with each other, its shaped (for no apparent reason) and so creating space between the lever clamp, the switch gear and the throttle is impossible..

not concerned bout rednecks or anything - just trying to get news or view on a fix or hopefully if someone has this on their GTR - and can take a photo and I can follow it.

My issue is that with everything moved right..  I have a non-returning throttle

I tried nearly every throttle lock on the market.
Then bought a ThrottleMeister heavy and never looked back.
They fit, they work, only -ve is the price.

It's unfortunate that the GTR switchgear won't accommodate the cruise control product you have chosen ~ some of the other tried and tested products that other members have used and are still using might be more suitable.

Don't worry about the 'Redneck' thing as its inevitable that light hearted banter will creep into most threads it's all in good taste

At the end of the day I'm certain that you will find good, solid, unbiased, tried and tested advice to your questions on this forum.

Oh I wasn't even thinking red neck was aimed at me!!!  Was it!!

I was more referring to keeping my post on track as the request for help can get lost in little additions

My issue is I have a very painful right hand and I'm doing Cambridge to Barcelona and back in 6 days. I'll need something to allow me to take hand off for a few secs.
