I'm getting to that stage of needing new tyres for baby.. I have done 11k on mine and checked them today and I'm down to the last 1mm before hitting the marker.
My current PR4 GT's were supplied, fitted and balanced by a mobile tyre fitter for a total cost of £304..
If I get the PR4 GT's from the web, how much should I expect to pay for fitting & balancing?
Not much choice by me for fitting I normally go to chemix who are local and have an indoor hoist for the bikes tyres. if supplied by them it's very cheap but fitting just the tyres they sting you
It's usually £10 a wheel cash, I did get some fitted for £5 a wheel , but most places it's a £10 ,,,
Check the prices on tyre leader Deb.
If you don't remove the wheels yourself your paying someone else to do it, so if that's not possible that's the only option.
I use to pay £200 225 a set fitted, but buy them from tyre leader, remove the wheels and around pops my m8 in his van.
Had to do that as I was getting through 3 sets a year,,,,,,,always changed as a pair on PR4 gt then went to Bridgestone T30 on a 190 if I remember correctly.
I've never had a mobile fitter to fit mine, and in the past used the same place I always have, however that guy insisted on supplying the tyres as well, he wouldn't fit any tyres that weren't supplied by him, now that we've moved I will be going elsewhere, fortunately there's a fitter about a mile away from us
Sorry I can't help DEbs...................BTW will you be choosing PR 4s again ?
OK thanks guys..
Yes OC. I'm sticking with the PR4 GT's.. Best I've ever had. I'm going to stick a 55 on the rear this time
So that's a slightly lower profile then ?

Just slightly bigger.
Reviews on the Concours 14 site says the 55 profile is a far better tyre than the 50, and the speedo is more accurate.
I did it on mine but truthfully I can't tell the difference. But then I'm an unfeeling sod at times...

oh yeah of course ...oooops ..........55% of tread width is greater than 50% my error
I have noticed that the speedo on my GTR does read fast compared to my sat nav but only by a small margin, the speedo on my last bike (Super Tenere) was also fast but by about 7% which was irritating, but at least it meant that there was less chance of getting caught for speeding :whistling: :mfr_lol:
I love the PR4 GTs too.
What, other than a slight change to the speedo, is the perceived benefit of the 55? What will an insurance company think, as they are not the approved size from Kawasaki or Michelin?
Notify your insurance if changing tyre size then should the worst happen there will not be any quibbles.
I think unless you have a calibrated speedo as we used to have which was manufactured by RSS they generally read 10% higher than your actual speed.

Try National Bike Tyres, same people as National Tyres.
http://www.nationalbiketyres.co.uk/michelin-pair-deals/pilot-road-4-pair-deals
I've never used them myself but a mate really rates their service. They'll ship any tyres purchased at web price to your nearest national tyre centre free, then I think it was £10 for fitting to each loose wheel. Give them a google and a call to check if you want to try! Just make sure they quote and supply the "GT" rated boots!
Ok decision made after a long weekend uming and aring.. Shall I or shan't I... blah de blah de blah.. I decided to go with the standard 50.. I cannot be arsed to have to contact the insurance company as they normally charge to make a change to your policy..
Anyway I got my set for £186.60 (£9.90 off as first order) and with free delivery ..
There are a few places round here that I can get them fitted for about £45 ride in and ride out service.
