Title: EBC Brake Pads
Post by: STX1300man on February 09, 2016, 11:22:50 AM
I'm trying to work out the wear rate on my front pads. Does anyone KNOW what thickness the pad material is on a new set of EBC HH front pads.

The service manual says the OEM pads are 4mm (but is not clear if that's the useable bit or includes the 1mm you shouldn't use).

I didn't measure the pads when new but a service log from the dealer after 3,000 miles said 5mm left.

I've now done 13,000 and there's about 2mm left which would suggest I've got about 3.5K until I need to replace but with all the variable figures I'm not sure.

Pads used last 30K+ on the Pan and I ride no differently.

From this I would suggest 7.78mm

I think that includes the backing plate.

Wouldn't the backing pkate be the same thickness as mother Kawasaki's  ? ...I'm not sure

I think that whilst your riding hasn't changed, your bike has, there must be many factors about usage of items such as brake pads, clutch etc which will vary from bike to bike
