Title: TomTom Rider - is there a base cover?
Post by: snowy on February 06, 2016, 11:58:16 PM
Just gone for the genuine Kawasaki SatNav mount and away from RAM, mainly as fed up removing the whole lot from RAM ball when parking up.
So far so good, like the position, but not happy with TomTom mounting plate being open to the elements when SatNav is removed.
Ever seen any caps or protective covers for these?
Do these suffer contact corrosion or issues when getting wet?
Think I'll be getting busy with an old inner-tube and velcro and fabricate something appropriate! :hammer:
Thoughts?

Good point Dick,  I don't think there is anything available on there accessory list

I guess you are talking about the spring mounted mount/charging plate for the Rider model and not the later rotatable mounting

Looks like your nicker elastic/velcro solution will be your only option....pics would be good when its done

I've had that mount for many years on different bikes in all weathers and never had a problem.  The actual contacts are gold (plated?) so wont corrode

Thanks OC.  I think, looking at page 7, that it might well fit throught the existing holes.  Best I get to a dealer who has one in stock mand offer it up

I would think that it will fit, most devices seem to have similar mounts and fittings, the TT 400 features a portrait/landscape facility so I reckon it will have 'standard' mounting points

The TT 400 looks like a good device too

Sorry for hijacking your thread snowr0

No problem, Like the look of the new 400 but just a fair expense as an upgrade, V5 works OK for me at present.
Do like the look of the 400 mount though!

You need the Tom Tom Rider 40/400 essential kit. I have only found it on a dutch site plus their ebay page.

This kit includes:

- a cap to protect the contacts of the motorcycle mount with locking strap
- a protective cap for the power cable
- an easy to apply Anti-Glare protection foil
