Title: Siezed Shock Adjuster
Post by: Stolichnaya on February 06, 2016, 01:39:50 PM
Hi all

Doing some routine maintenance. I can't adjust the rear shock with the turny noby thing. Seen that it's common from a search. I've taken the adjuster off, left it hanging horizontal and filled the gap with Plus Gas. Am I likely to get it free or is it just buggered and I have to put up with it where it is??  Bit of a pain in the ass.

Baglux cover taken me an eon to fit as stupid rubber grommet with thread in on left upper fell out twice  what a complete pain!!

Given up trying to get the power leads out for my TomTom. Sausage fingers simply don't work!!

Oh, bit off a nightmare day, and windy and raining.!!

Use WF40 for the adjuster, rag and mole grips to get it slightly moving and work it from there.  If it wont shift, buy some vinegar and immerse the adjuster over night to free and rust and try again with the WD.

Remember the WD needs to get to the stuck part which only might happen with the adjuster upright.

No don't give up, if you are trying to locate the leads from inside the front left 'boot' they can be very difficult to locate and just as difficult to pull out, I too have sausage fingers  :mfr_lol:

So try for the ones inside the boot behind and just below the rear seat latch they can be located a bit easier, then you can extend them with some bullet connectors

Good luck

Very true indeed, that's why I'd never let her touch my knob!  :mfr_lol:

Well... Update
IT MOVES!!  Steeped in vinegar all night. I blow with an air line and tried to move by hand. No chance so just thought I'd try with mole grips and with the loudest bunch of squeaks it moved. All I've done is move a few cm laff n right to free it. Squeaks like heck. It's now in a bath of brake cleaner. In a few hours I'll blow it out, give it a blow out n then immerse it in anathema of oil.

Thanks for help guys n gals.

Got a couple of jobs done on it this weekend
