Title: Any Feedback on these Mods please for a Newbie
Post by: Stolichnaya on January 26, 2016, 02:48:16 PM
Hi Guys n Gals
Ive been looking at mods for my 2010 GTR...  to make things more customised for my riding and the wife.  input on these would be greatly received.

1. Rearsets.  the std foot pegs are too high for me.  seen these at a remarkable price !   http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301380685833?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

2. cruise control.  I have an Omnicruise on my GSX14 - untried as yet.  seen this type - anyone use this?  easy fit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281688688961?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

3. Screens. wanting something a little taller.  seen this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MRA-X-Creen-Maxi-for-Kawasaki-GTR1400-2007-2014-/221989059532?hash=item33af943bcc:g:yHgAAOSwwPhWj3d8

4. I have a TomTom Rider v3.  whats the best place to pick up power to it?  Battery?  looks a pain in the bum to feed wires up the fairing!

5. Optimate for GTR.  is there an easy run for the wire?  I don't really want to take the bike apart only to be told "if you take the one screw out...."

cheers guys
Stoli

I power my Garmin from the accessory socket. But reading a previous thread, I understand there is a 12V feed under the left hand cover at the top of the fairing. That's on my to-do list.

As for the Optimate, you can feed the wire through the right hand "vents" in the fairing (once you've removed the battery cover, and battery retaining clamp and wired it to the battery of course)

Hope that helps a little.

Cheers

Paul B.

As stated under the cubby hole storage on the left is a rubber boot covering 2 bullet connectors the leads arnt very long buy the same size and crimp the opposite ends to your sat nav they turn on and off with the ignition.
I removed the storage couple of fixings easy Peasy easier to do
There is also 2 more under the seat . Do a search on here I'm sure there are photos and location pics .
The optimate I connected to the lead supplied to the battery just sticks out the faring a bit .

Yes mate a positive and a negative black cables one has a strip (  on mine anyway ).
Not much spare cable on them but you should have enough on your Satnav.
I used the front .

The rear sets look like a lot of engineering for relatively little money, I would advise checking to see that they will actually fit your bike

As for  a better screen maybe consider a Laminar Lip they do work, look okay, good quality  and are reasonably priced

The rearsets are crazy cheap. I find the std pegs a snide too high for me. For £70 it could be a great fix. I'd ask how many sold and feedback tho

I'm wanting a tinted screed. The X-creen is smoked and has a lip so may have a go with it.

Check the Kawasaki part number fiche for both bikes and see if they are the same.  If so, there's at least half a chance they might.
