Title: lowering the height
Post by: ched1957 on January 24, 2016, 09:35:02 PM
hi
is there an easy way to lower the height of my gtr by about an inch

I found that the seat width is more of an issue than the height. Making it narrower at the front means your legs are less spread apart and makes a huge difference.  Also, for me, the footpegs were where my legs are which made me spread them wider and changing the seat solved that too.

Have you considered picking up a Kawasaki gel seat, I think they are an inch lower.

I don't know of anyone in the Stafford area, but I wouldn't let the location of a good repairer be an issue as a good job is what you are after, in any event if you have the seat of your bike re-modelled you will be without it for a while anyway.

This is a link to a highly regarded well respected and proven trimmer specialist, his reputation is outstanding, he could be worth a try....good luck

A further thought, .......the standard seat on the latest GTR is narrower at the front

An afterthought..... :whistling:

If you come to this years annual meet in June, there will be lots of GTR's there, some may even have the lowered gel seat on. I'll distract everyone while you help yourself to a new seat.  :mfr_lol:

I'm joking of course before anyone reports me to myself!!!!

These?  They are good for visibility, but I rather think that Wolfie has a good idea as well.

Are they cheaper than a new seat ?  :mfr_lol:

OC I think the 2016 seat has had quite a bit of (please excuse the term) hi tech restuffing. Should be interesting to compare

You know, a meet up is the perfect place to try aftermarket screens and seats.  Once it warms up here, I think that I'll try to put something together for our guys.

+1 on that, Tony Archer has reworked my last 3 seats, top quality work at resonable prices, I even rode from Norfolk to Huddersfield to get a ride in ride out service once, years ago  :scooter:

Speak to Chells or Stafford Motorcycles, they advised a mate to use a local chap in the industrial units opposite Halfords who made a decent job, that was a few years ago tho'.
If not then Google Coventry Hood in Telford - they've made some good jobs on others that I've seen.
