Hi all, and Merry Christmas/happy new year. right niceties out the way.....
Recently picked up a 2nd hand Givi Tank ring for my Strom - is there a ring for the 2010 GTR?
Seems to be conflicting info on Web and here..
Cheers in advance
Hi,
My bike is a 2011 model so, I think, the same as the 2010 and I have a Givi tank ring fitted, can't recall right now where I got it from (probably the Sport Bike Shop), but I seem to remember that it was the same as for the ZZR1400 and so maybe looking for that model might helps? I can delve back in time and try to find details if it would help... Happy New Year!
The tank ring is the same for all modern Kawasaki models, the code is I think BF-04.
The reason it is not listed for all GTR 1400 is the pre 2010 models have the tank top storage which gets in the way. If yours is the facelift model the GIVI bag will fit fine.
Ahhh cheers guys much appreciated.
NOT too sure what the 'facelift' model is but I'm assuming mine IS as I have the mini glove box.
Does seem strange that the info on t'internet is 'vague'?? You'd think the Givi site itself would make that clear??
Anyroadup, thanks I'll be popping over to BikeStop in Stevenage v shortly and getting a bag and the ring (most likely) BF04.
We get 15% discount so be spending me Xmas present money...... from me ... to me!!!

Pre 08/09 models had a storage box on the tank around the filler cap.
Also remember this if you fit a baglux tank cover the earlier one has a Velcro flap to open up to access the storage box

This was my 08/09
I also have the Givi tank lock system, and yes the ring is a BF04

If you have more than one bike and want to use the bag on different bikes ,then you need the plastic ring as well as the metal one ,which the metal one is in the plastic wrapper, and the plastic ring was in the bag , I asked about this and was told that they keep plastic ones to give with the metal ring , when you buy one ,
Ya learn something new every day. First I've heard of this system.

It's great. So much quicker to fit & remove the tank-bag than the "Bagster" system.
I had one on my last bike and was a bit gutted when I found out that I couldn't get a ring for my Gen 1 GTR...
Sold the tank bag and ring, bought a Bagster cover from FleaBay, along with a bright yellow tank bang (which has never been stolen or left at a petrol station by accident thanks to the colour )
Cheers

:mfr_lol: No yellow GTRs, no
Ok, I get it now, it only works with the GTR ring? There is no ring to rule them all?
They come in two parts if you look at the picture. The outer part is universal, the inner part is bike/make specific to match the bolt pattern of the filler cap.
It is a good system but the bag could be larger. Panniers and top box normally filled with hair equipment (not mine) so a larger bag would be good.
They do come in different sizes. I have the small one which I use for stuff like wallet, keys, glasses, etc. And a larger expandable one for longer trips where I need every ounce of storage space.

Givi T480
Thanks Debs.
To use the Givi ring on a Gen1 GTR you need to remove the glovebox upper part. I bought a SW-motch quicklock and fittet to my Givi bag.
I like the Givi ring better but dont fit the gen1.
