Title: Apple pudding assistance
Post by: virginiajim on November 16, 2015, 01:30:32 PM
I need help with creating an apple pudding.  Mom used to make them and were delicious.  I know I need suet.  They were made in a bowl within a bowl and were boiled I think.  The pudding was wrapped in a cloth.  Dough on the outside and apples on the inside.  The smell of it cooking was marvelous indeed.  She didn't make them much over here as she had a hard time getting the proper suet.  Thought that English suet was the best.  She used to smuggle it through customs many many years ago along with other food items.  I don't think that would fly these days, though.  So I'm stuck with American suet and have to make do.

Definitely.  With mom gone, I want to try to recreate some of her recipes for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I have the sausage rolls down pat.  After I get the apple pudding done correctly, I'll start on the tarts..

Thanks, Burchy!

Don't have any Pat's in my family but if there were, he or she would say that they are delicious.
