I apologise in advance for this... but..
On Saturday I took my GSA back to the dealer I bought it from to collect some grab bar grips they promised me they'd chuck in when I bought it 4 months ago.
SO they take my keys and wheel the bike into the workshop and rest it on the sidestand.
The side stand was on the hydraulic ramp, but the rest of the bike wasn't. You see I presume that this was a car ramp and they can use both sides for a bike each, if you see what I'm getting at. This means, of course, that both ramps raise at the same time.
Yes - you guessed it.
The guy working on the bike next to mine raised the ramp. :death:
My bike was literally flipped onto it's side. :censored:
What actually happened is that it was thrown over, the top case scraped down the door frame and the whole thing just landed in a big heap on the exhaust side. 3 French blokes leapt to try and save it, one crushing his hand in the process (in between the top case and a work surface, I think).
Now once it was hefted back up, the RHS mirror was tightened back up and a finger nail run along the plastic edge to remove the burring, it was actually difficult to find any damage.
The whole bike is surrounded by bars, and the one protecting the engine on the RHS has now got a wear scratch where it has come into contact with the concrete floor.
The top case has a small mark on it that you have to squint to see, and the right foot peg and top case clasp have some slight burring that required a little filing to remove.
So, the French blokes looked at me proudly and said what I can best translate into "Phew that was close - no damage!"
:censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:
That's not the :censored: point! You just flipped my 25K EUR bike you :censored: :asshole: :shit: !!!
They even tried to tell me that it didn't actually touch the floor, and that if there was actually any damage then obviously they would replace the damaged parts.
I'm pretty sure that in the UK the dealership would be falling over themselves to try and make it right.
Here they wouldn't even acknowledge that they had done anything wrong! Not even a "I'm sorry, Mr. Ros, for dropping your bike - if you find anything wrong with it, do let us know and we'll figure something out".
:censored: :censored: s
I really hate this culture sometimes. I'm totally furious.
Rant over... for the moment...
:censored: solid bike, mind.... blimey!
Ros
Oh my...
 Ros, that's shite. Clearly they have though now demonstrated to you the standard of care they will attribute to your bike when they are doing work on it! Choose wisely re taking it back unless they are your only BMW dealer and then you're knackered.
Ros that is very bad and totally unacceptable !
In 2010 I bought a new BMW K1300 GT EE which was generally a good bike (dreadful gear shift).
One day whilst exiting a very well known biker meeting place it simply cut out and fell over in the road causing about £700.00 worth of damage, as well as being Red faced I was furious.
My supplying dealer claimed it was a one off and I must have hit the kill switch with my hand or a tank bag (no bag was fitted at the time) ~ I had already checked the kill switch was still switched 'on' further the dealer said that BMW wouldn't pay for the repairs as it was a one off :taz:
I paid for the repairs myself, and later read that other K1300 GT owners had experienced similar engine cut outs,
How surprised I was to be told much later after I got rid of the bike that a recall was implemented to resolve this issue.
I'm not BMW bashing but my experiences left a very bitter taste in my mouth and as they say "once bitten, twice shy" or simply...... NEVER AGAIN
That's the spirit!
One thing that most MC companies haven't really learned is that the dealer relationship can make or break a customer for life. We've had horror stories from Kawasaki dealers as well.
Don't get me started on idiotic french dealerships lol. The kawasaki ones are just as bad... brain dead.
Well I've calmed down a lot since then, but I do feel like I have been done. My bike was basically new when it went in, and it has been down on its side during their care.
I'm going to make a call to BMW France and tell them what happened. Let's see what they say.

I heard a story about the side stand cut-off causing that - even on the bomb proof GSA you can see the two tiny wires going into a switch. It' the only thing not protected by bars on that bike. There's a 39 Euro guard that'll stop any mud or stones getting in there. I'm sure you could be a while figuring out why the sodding thing won't start if you sever those wires....
Back to this dealership thing... There are two relatively near to where I live. Both have been shyte for one reason or another.
BUT it's an absolutely STORMIN' machine...
Ros :)
Maybe they'll say this...

The side stand cut - out switch failed on my K1200 RS whilst it was at a dealer for MOT some years ago. There was no warning, the bike was ridden into the Workshop, ridden out, parked and then would not start. I eventually decided what was wrong (only after calling home and asking my wife to collect me though) and bypassed the system.
I remember that the new switch was over £100.00 and back - ordered!
Ah. BMW don't you just love them!
The problem with the K1300 GT I owned was more to do with the Kill switch mounted on the bars, I don't think it had a problem with the side stand switch....anyway it's someone else's problem now as I got rid of it :mfr_lol:
LOL@ French taunting :)
So yesterday I called up BMW France and they have opened an investigation. This will be interesting. I am expecting contact back from them by 16th Nov...
I will not allow them make castanets out of my testicles...
Oh dear Oh dear Oh dear
I'm sorry, but this is :mfr_lol:
Giggling like an idiot here :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
