right i'm a bit bored of it now.
it needs to go a bit better for my liking.
what are these power commanders like? are they worth it? basically i want the same effect as dropping a tooth on a front sprocket.
maybe i have the wrong bike.?
Have u removed the secondary butterflies ,,,if NOT try this its iinstant grunt from the start
Kenny
yep done that.
You do realize that you have a shaft drive bike, right? We don't have sprockets. There's only so much you can do to it. The Power Commander V would probably help you as would an ECU re-flash. Adding dual exhaust? Short of those, you'll need to get a ZX-14 or a Hayabusa....possibly a VMax. They aren't terribly good at long distance touring though.
I've found over the years that owners (like me) that come from less powerful bikes (C10) think it has an un-Godly amount of power and don't really want anything more. However, owners that come from sport type bikes tend to think it lacking and do all sorts of things to amp it up.
As you've already removed the flies, I'd go with a Power Commander V but be aware that it's really sensitive on ground points and cause issues when the grounds or connections get dodgy. Personally I'd go with a re-flash but my flies are still in.
what about removing the Catalytic converters? anyone done that? does that help?
it did cross my mind that we don't have sprockets, i just need to to be a bit more lively.
I took my bike to Geoff at Hilltop motorcycles who remapped it while I waited, transformed th smoothness and delivery straight away. £350 all in and I still have the flies in.

Not very much. The only tangible results I think we've found is the heat leaves the bike a bit quicker. Makes some difference on the 08/09s but not sure how much it helps on the 10+. You're better off with a re-flash or PCV.
PC5 won't give you any more power. All it does is smooth out the fuelling. FRom my experience the fuelling is pretty good anyway as long as the throttle bodies are balanced.
Even flashing the ECU wont give you many or any more ponies, maybe 2 or 3 at the top end. What a reflash WILL do, though is take away any limitations in the system and allow full power from the off

think you need to try the zzr 1400 performance sport
:agree:
Stick a nitrous kit on it , or a super charger , or buy the performance version of the zzr14 and put the front end of the gtr on upright bars and power like it should have , :biker3:
i maybe selling my 2015 performance sport with bar raisers heated grips and other goodies warranty till march 2017 2200 miles from new

I did have a nitrous kit on my Bandit... but that's another story.
i'm assuming ZZR's are no good for 200+ miles rides?
they are surprisingly more comfortable than you think they have a lower saddle ,with the bar raisers and lowered pegs no problem

Flashing will give you a bit more power but it moves the power curve lower down so that the added horsepower is in a more usable area of the rev range.
sorry to drag up an old thread but i'v enot been able to get on the forum for a bit!!
Still got the GTR and still riding a fair amount. last week was crewe, bristol, great yarmouth, st albans and back in that order avoiding motorways apart from the stint back home.
could that be done on the ZZR?
i need to test ride one.
I had a ZZR1400 in 2007, it was bad for my back BUT I do have a spinal condition.
I bought the bike expecting it to be all I wanted in a bike, without any back problems I think that the ZZR would be a great bike for all your needs.
The 1400 was a missile ~ I can only assume that the 1441 version is even faster and may be what you are looking for, I think you can fit panniers and a top box to allow you to tour on a ZZR...........the obvious next step for you is to try one and see what you think.
Good luck and let us know how you get on
Edit: Kawasaki UK actually market the ZZR as a "sports tourer"
Having just come off a ZZR to the GTR, the ZZR is comfy for longer distances with one exception, i found the riding position far too forward, seat is very comfy though and the performance is absolutely no comparison.
250 miles a day loaded with panniers and top box is no problem on a ZZR14, I did it last Sunday night in rain so heavy that cars were pulling off the M11.
Very well equipped to cover long distances, it's just more sporty than a GTR, also popular are bar risers and different screens but they are a personal thing as with any bike.
I've had the ZZR1400, sold it for the GTR as I also have a spinal issue that the ZZR even with raised bars etc, just exacerbated. I also felt the GTR was a bit underpowered coming off the ZZR, so I went with the usual, a full exhaust system with no cat, aftermarket air filter, PC V, flies out and eventually a set of 44mm ZZR1400 throttle bodies with velocity stacks. Some dyno time and that woke it up nicely and for the last 4 years been really happy with the performance!(167,5 RWHP). Don't think much more can be done without serious mods to the ram air system get more air in.

Blimey I think that would be enough for us mere mortals :mfr_lol:
Just got back from a 130 mile blast , kept to back roads and left it in 3 rd and 4 th gear keeping it in lower gears keeps it nice and tight round the bends ,instance thrust out of bends popping and snarling on the overrun ,back down the m180 at 6000 revs for 15m , then across back roads to squires , this bike is still fantastic to ride you just have to use the gears and plenty of input to make it fly round the bends ,
I'm still in two minds. I'm currently doing IAM training and an observer has the ZZR. He's just come back from 3000 mile trip to Spain and Portugal. Has fitted risers so that answers the long distance question.
Need to sort a test ride now.
I'm wringing the neck of the gtr and it's not scaring me anymore.

Try wringing it's neck after a bag or 2 of Evo-Stick :mfr_lol:

OK. Fill plastic bag with Evo-Stick. Stick head in bag and breath in to absorb the mind bending fumes then go wring the throttle.
On a serious note will the crank, rods, top end etc of the 1440 motor fit the GTR bottom end ?
Can't remember if the 1352 was bore & stroked or just stroked to make the 1440 motor
If so ..........would this not make a nice up grade ? :scooter:

you never ride the GTR these days so it must be better!!
Wondered when this would turn into a K16 thread.
Anybody removed the Cats? Fitted a power commander etc?
Is it worth it?
Should I get a ZZR ?

Better ......no......different.........yes.........more a case of convenience as GTR at back of shed.
To be honest this K16 thing is wearing a bit thin. It would be nice to play a juke box with more than one track on it.

My apologises exBanditOwener and trust this thread will return to your worthy subject matter.

Guess we will have to go back to the old argument of which colour is fastest.....well it's GREEN of course...  :help:
Thought it was black!
It isn't graphite grey that's for sure

The fastest ones have inner bags for the panniers, colour has no bearing

good point I have inner bags.
Colour is important in relation to speed, the metallic GREEN paint is smoother and therefore more aerodynamic, and thus faster....however...to get the maximum benefit, you must do a mod to the giggling pin and the waffle valve :ohplease:.... The waffle valve is the most important mod as it allows any high speed number that comes into your head :mfr_lol:
Sorry all. The men in white coats are coming to take him back tomorrow
