Title: Eco mode.
Post by: Mikey on October 16, 2015, 09:56:56 PM
Well I actually read some of the handbook today,  and discovered the bike has an eco mode. This apparently cuts some power and leans out the fuel mixture.

Can't be doing with this lack of power so how do I tell if it's engaged or not?

2010 + models only

eco comes up on the dash but turns off when you turn off the bike!

leans fuel by 25% approximately, and might loose 10% power, but its not that bad!  unless your racing!  eco also pretty naff in town - can be not as smooth at low rpm - but great for sitting on the motorway!

for the best results keep the engine out of the VVT - i.e below 4500rpm....

For best economy keep out of the VVT zone,

for the most fun, immerse yourself in the VVT zone,

you didn't buy a 1400 for the mpg

Only use in 'cruising mode' in highways here and in 6th... Very little fuel consuming than
But need more power when in real biking style :punk:

I may have given the wrong impression, if I wanted economy I'd have bought an 800GS  :whistling:

I like the mind numbing acceleration.

So did Ant. To be used bellow 6000rpm and less than half throttle for best results. Just gives it a lean map and helps esp on long motorway bashes  :punk:

Eco mode? I could have sworn I bought a 1400cc 160bhp motorcycle. If I wanted Eco would have bought a Dullville.   :scooter:: :mfr_lol:

Another vote for Eco mode. Should be the setting it comes on with. Call it normal and have to switch to Power mode and everyone would be happy.

Eco mode only has an effect up to 6000 rpm and for me, make the throttle response so much nicer in the real world. Doesn't stop you winding on or using the revs.

Of course not...  The classic C14 models 08/09 only had ABS as an option.  It wasn't until the model 10 year they started putting that silly accessory on the bikes.

Ok, I can see that point but I average about 45mpg even with thrashing it.  How much better is the gas mileage on Eco?

That depends somewhat on wind turbulence, tail wind, head wind, solo, two up, tyre pressures, (did we discuss them) pannier cases fitted or not screen adaptations which is something else we could throw in for discussion) pannier inner bags, tyre type, colour of bike (GREEN is fastest) .....and basically ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I did a short trip around Wales and Southen England at the start of the month.  I dont dawdle..but I do use Ecomost of the time.  Ut turns itself off when you decided to get a bit spirited, north of 6000 revs
