This looks to me like an add-on, but what's it's purpose?
Does anyone recognise it? Please let me know. My thoughts are that it's a camera mount but why there?

Looks to me like some holder for action cam.

It's a Go Pro mount. It will pull off if you are careful. Possibly heat it up slightly first with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive.
