I'm owing this story to Charlie but it was a bit long to tell through texting...
Several weeks ago I was exiting my client's offices and it was quite darkish outside. I had my laptop and some other equipment and my hands were quite full. I needed to put the equipment into the rear of the RAV4 so I leaned my laptop carrying bag against the left side rear wheel. I got into the vehicle and put it in reverse and felt a bump/thud as I backed out of the space. Thinking....there wasn't anything behind me, what could it be? Then I saw the laptop case (with laptop of course) lying just to the front of the left side front wheel. Oh my....... Got to the hotel room and booted it up...screen cracked but it still worked as far as I could see.
Got home a day later and put a call into corporate on getting a new screen as that appeared to be the only issue. Got permission to get a new screen and promptly installed it but it didn't appear operational out of the box. It lit up, but it wasn't working correctly. Kept on plugging and replugging and then finally would not light up at all. Put the old one back in and it didn't light up either. Oh :censored:, what now?
Did some investigating and there is a fuse of sorts on the mother board that routes power to the screen. Apparently it's blown. This can happen if you leave the battery in whilst changing out the LCD screen, which I must have done at some point with all the finagling with the connectors. I also ordered the screen connector cable which didn't help at all so the fuse must be the culprit. It's not a fuse that is 'normal'. It's something very small that can fit on a circuit board. The only choice I think I have is to hot wire it and cross my fingers... Will try to do that this weekend.
I can still use the laptop with an external display but it is somewhat cumbersome. I feel some small responsibility for this issue as one, I did run over it. And two, I was cold sober at the time.
Just replace the fuse..

I hope it's that easy but based on what I've read it isn't. Lenovo T430. I'll know this weekend.
Thanks for telling the tale Jim.
Don't you just hate that when it happens
