Title: 26k shim service costs
Post by: Redrat on September 27, 2015, 09:57:39 AM
After my Z1000SX test ride I told the salesman there was no deal but he had won a customer. I asked what the cost of the 26k service would be as it was due at this time of year/mileage. This also includes a valve shim inspection which I anticipated to be an expensive process. He spoke to the workshop who advised the service would be about £300 and a compression check would indicate any cylinder/valve problem. I would then be informed to agree to any further work required which would be another £200. I was pleased to have such a positive response to my enquiry, even more so to hear that the workshop had never had to do any shim adjustment on any GTR service they had carried out. This dealer has got my vote to carry out this check and any other adjustment whilst I service the parts within my capabilities.

I think BMW dealers offer a discounted labour rate for work carried out on bikes 5 years and older which is a good idea for keeping customers with 'older' bikes
