Title: Prospective new owner
Post by: andys on September 24, 2015, 11:52:01 PM
Hi All.
Yesterday I had my first test ride of the GTR1400 ns it blew my socks off.
So I'm here to hopefully get some unbiased objective feedback on the bike.
Specifically, are there any know issues with these bikes, (including early models)
How are those final drives holding out.
I've heard of at least one owner who had a blown seal in the gearbox that meant a major repair.
Things like that.
My current steed is a 23 year old BMW K1100RS which has never missed a beat in the 10 years (and 50,000) miles I've owned it.
Current odometer reading is 98,000 miles.
It's a daunting prospect changing from something that has been so reliable, and I'm hoping the Kawasaki will be equally so.
Thanks.

First of all Welcome to our world  :scooter:  :punk:

The only regular problems which seem to of been resolved through the years are

Warped disc
Sized rear shock adjuster knob

I'm sure the rest of the gang will be here soon and explain all

I've had mine since May 2013 and love it.  The motor and transmission is superb. The high speed stability outstanding. The smile on my face ever ride for real  :punk:

Welcome.  Final drive issues are very very rare.  Much more common in BMWs.  I've had mine since Aug 07 and no major issues.
