Title: TV show identification help
Post by: virginiajim on September 20, 2015, 03:40:47 AM
Many years before some of you were born there was a children's tv show that featured small animals.  I have this picture in my mind of a Guinea pig in a boat or it could have been a frog.  It was in the opening part of the show I think.  Can any of ya'll remember such a tv show?

Thanks.  I'm getting nostalgic.  Just watched Bill and Ben Flower Pot Men and am also trying to find episodes of Z Cars that are watchable over here in the US.  Charlie started it by showing Vulcan pictures.  Which led me to vids of Upper Heyford and then it went all downhill from there.  And I'm not even drinking...

Guinea pig in a boat - think this was tales of the riverbank.
Only frog we can recall was Kiki from Hectors' House!
Much thanks to SWMBO - sorry the Oracle for this!
Before my time..........honest!  :embarrassed:

The ones I watched were in black and white and were in the early 60's.  I watched them at Upper Heyford.  The colour ones came out in the 70's.   Also watched Dr. Who.

I remember watching the first episode ever of Doctor Who. Any body remember Twizzle of Torchy?

Sadly, yes. This must be in the air or something-I just bought all the Bag puss episodes and am currently collecting Garfield as well. I'll raise your Torchy-and ask if anyone remembers 'Four Feather Falls".
Hell, I've depressed myself now... and all this after getting the second puncture this year on the GTR which is now sadly standing in the shed in the midst of  the rain- swept  freezing garden waiting for me to sort it out. Still, Garfield will sort out my mood!

Potty time, was that when you'd see footprints in the sand but no figure ?

I remember Tales of the riverbank very well, back in the day one of my friends was that hooked on it he bought them all on video :mfr_lol: (it was the late 80's).

It was genius though

Unfortunately the early 70's wiped out most of my long term memory.  I only get flashes of things past every once in awhile, especially whilst drinking.  The voices, however, have only increased in intensity.

It seems I've started something here.  Possibly most of us were around in the early 60's.  I enjoy those shows.  No bad language, just good fun and good tv.

Old TV programmes....Interesting that when recently watching an old episode of "On the Buses" on some digital channel, my kids were in ear shot, both in their early 20's, and were so taken aback by the "racist" and "sexist" comments!
Did I miss something......"chalky" was a mate, almost a term of endearment for a colleague!.........
"Looking for somewhere to park me bike" when a flash of cleavage was seen................................
"Sambo" and Gollywog", and similarly "White Honky"........................................what went wrong?    :undecided:
Now waiting for the P.C. brigade to censor me!      :police:
