Title: Service.
Post by: GTRpilot on August 31, 2015, 09:28:49 PM
On advice of many going to service the machine myself, basic stuff, oil and filter, air filter, final drive oil.
Had a look at whats involved changing the air filter, what a palaver, did mine on the Blackbird and the ST1300 and they were easy to get at and change, but on the GTR sheesh!  :sweatdrop:

It might sound griefy but once you've done it you'll realise it's not actually that bad.

i did mine yesterday.
Back end oil. get GL5 spec.
Engine oil and filter very easy do do except whoever did the filter up did it too tight and was a PITA to get off
Checked coolant and topped up
Changed Air filter for K&N

whilst i was there i thought i'd remove the flies too. :) i shall post about this in the relevant place
If you can drive allen keys and spanners you can service it yourself. Easy.

Yep my filter was a real pain to get off, everything else was pretty straight forward.

I have wiring for a Zumo 550 on mine but the 550 went U/S so have bought a 660 to replace it.
Different connection so looking at removing 550 wiring and replacing with 660.
Mine looks like its wired in under the righthand black panel under the bars, is yours in the same location or somewhere else? Just after the best place to fit it.
Thanks.
