Dya know Jim there really is something eerie about 'broken'  ships "rust stains like dripping blood" really sums it up for me.

As Charlie can tell you, I get worked up emotionally with aircraft, especially ones that get abandoned or destroyed.  Some many people have worked on them that they leave a part of themselves with the aircraft.  I couldn't stand for a single one to be 'recycled', but I understand why they do it.  The B/RB-36's were turned into scrap metal as soon as they hit the bone yard.  I don't think they even gathered any dust to speak of.

There's actually a photo in a book or floating around somewhere of my dad's RB/36 (748) at Davis Monthan (Bone Yard).  He was it's crew chief  in the early to mid 50's.

Found it...  http://www.aerofiles.com/convairJRB36H.jpg  The multiple square windows were camera ports for observation of airborne nuclear tests in the Pacific.
