:police: :police: :police: :police:  :censored: :censored: :censored: 76 in a 60 my own fault I suppose. But Jobsworth plod doesn't help,  told me my plate wasn't legal either although correct size and lettering correct there was no BS number!!!! Enough to put you off biking.

Even told me that bikes were the target for the day. Three riders all travelling same speed straight road I was behind my pals we could see for miles ahead Police hide in the forest :nono: :nono: :nono:. Hands up I was over the limit but they told me luck of the draw so I get charged. Seems to be remit here target the biker.

Now,  I know what legal limit is and when your over it  you risk being pulled over,  but believe me when I tell you there were way worst offenders than me travelling that road yesterday!!!!!!

Pissed me off enough to sell my 15 plate GTR. I have offered it for sale to one of the other riders was out with yesterday if he doesn't take it going to put it up for sale on site only 3 months old 600 miles and £1440 worth of extras. Will be looking for 12k Watch the For sale thread.

Kenny and Colin guys I was riding with were as pissed off as me and thought they were going to be charged too, attitude of police toward bikes/bikers was terrible and lesson learned was this,  bikers are a target :censored: and this was not about road safety just about filling their book and making money.

Anyway enough said ride safely all.

I know its annoying and makes your blood boil at times, but put your sale on hold for a month then see how you feel. Not worth letting one incident get in the way of years of biking in the future. I got stung like that once in Wales, and felt the same, but would've missed out on so much if I just got rid of the bike. The police need to focus on the knob heads in the hot hatches racing round the built up streets. .... I guess you could also blame the Rossi wannabes for the police targeting.

Shaggs I was going to mention the Police in Wales but you beat me to it. They've mellowed a lot since a few years ago when their Chief had a personal vendetta against bikers going through Snowdonia.

Never had any grief in Scotland on the bike despite occasionally going a wee bit fast on some roads, usually when I've been with Rusty!!

North Yorks Cops can be a bit harsh at times but then they do get more than their fare share of sports bike riders blatting about.

STM....don't sell your bike. We've all been there I'm sure and if we haven't it's probably been down to pure luck.

I appreciate your comments but decision made bike already on MCN and also about to be advertised for sale on this site add (awaiting approval). I also have a 2015 Versys 1000 and I am going to hang on to that for now and see how I feel.

To be honest whole thing has just left me feeling deflated about biking in this county altogether you wait long enough for some decent weather to ride then you come up against this nonsense. Don't really think its worth it when Scottish Police Force are actually telling you publicly that they are targeting bikers then its maybe time to hang up the boots not worth the hassle.

I was riding a few months ago and stopped for lunch and was talking to a fellow biker who was pulled over for doing 65mph and in his words threatened by Police with prosecution for offence of doing 65 in a 60 then he tells me they ignored the M3 BMW who overtook him at he estimated about 85-90mph. I was as far as I am concerned also threatened with Police and told quite literally pay the fine and accept the points or if I challenge charge then there is a good chance they will also pursue me for dangerous driving too Intimidation is how they seem to treat citizens now.

I am not worried about fine or 3 points as my licence was clean, but I am worried about Scottish Police Forces attitude to bikers and bikes in general. It was clear when officers got out of car that there was going to be no conversation about matter and they seemed quite excited about prospect of bagging another wrong doer. I drive a lot for my job and pride myself on being a patient thoughtful and conservative driver but this has just made me rethink riding a bike at all in future.

THEY EVEN JOKED THAT WE COULD BETWEEN THE THREE OF US CHIP IN TO PAY THE FINE AS WE WERE ALL DOING THE SAME SPEED. :censored: :censored: :censored:

Time will tell maybe feel differently in a few months or next year.

I don't envy the traffic officers job, as they have to deal with horrendous scenes of carnage at collision scenes, and then dealing with the aftermath of such incidents and the effect it has on friends and family members, maybe it's this that makes the force commander decide to target bikes (in this case), they could be targeting young 'uns in souped up cars one day and white van man (overloading) the next

However its not always what you say but how you say it and police officers like everyone else can have a bad day at the office

None of us were there with you on the day in question so can't comment accurately, but as you say you were speeding and you were caught.

I too don't think you should sell your bike due to this incident, if you give in you've lost ..................  keep your bike and continue to enjoy it

It's just the luck of the draw ,you hear of people getting done doing 33 in a 30 my mates mother gone done doing that , being a motorcyclist you have to expect that every now and again you will get caught, police in North Yorkshire target bikes , the law on speed is outdated , I tend to ride midweek and pick roads that are not popular haunts ,then you never see any coppers, if the traffic cops in Scotland have been told to get as many bikes as they can then they will see it as a green light to do what they like ,before you would have have been told to slow down and on your way , if it gets like Wales did and affects tourism ,some one will tell them to back off , just remember that all coppers are arrogant bastards, it a power thing  :biker3:

Lol, I had to laugh when I read this, firstly nobody is going to get done for doing 33 in a 30 limit, that would be madness, even a speed camera wouldn't trip at that.
Secondly, objection Your Honour....all coppers are not arrogant bastards. A few are, I'll grant you that, but not all of them, only the absolute minority.

I would support that sentiment as well, I've been pulled over twice on the bike. First time was more than fair - 70 in a 60, I'd gone for a ride because England were poncing around a field with other nancys playing football and I knew the roads would be empty. A car pulled me over and simply said "I could see you were riding safely and had control of your vehicle, just slow it down a bit" and then said he'd have been out doing the same if he wasn't on duty!

The second time was in Wales and a pair of motorcycle police were pulling every bike in to a lay by, one of them then did a check around the bike (tyres legal, not got a daft number plate etc) whilst the other just chatted and warned not to ride over the limit. This was in the day of the almost militant attitude against motorbikes in Wales, these officers were trying to improve the perception and pointing out that a lot of them are riders as well. They want people to come and enjoy the Welsh roads rather than a few idiots riding like a loon and resulting in lower speed limits for everyone.
Stopping every bike was possibly a bit much but actually I appreciated it and enjoyed the 5 minute chat with them.

2 for 2 on friendly police encounters. But then I generally behave ;)

I've been collared a few times over the years, and had the arrogant copper who wants to try and draw a reaction from you, and the other side where I've just been given a friendly word. I got caught on the M5 once doing over a ton in an MR2, but was still driving sensibly (I think anyway) as there wasn't a thing on the road at 3am. I was nabbed by police waiting in the slip road, but I actually shook their hand and thanked them afterwards - two really nice blokes, caught me fair and square, and offered me 3 points and a 60 quid fine if I promised not to do it again near their patch lol. There are some sensible ones about, a shame about the minority. Sometimes we get angry with ourselves for getting caught in the first place.

2009, got stopped by Wales's finest bike cop. We had a chat, he told me where there were some great biking roads, he told me where there was a terrific butty bar, we had a chat about the current biker policy in Wales and then he ticketed me......no, only joking, then we parted company. No attitude, no shit, nothing.

After all the negative press re cops in Wales at this time this was a refreshing experience.
