Many moons ago I picked up a load of motorbikes from Barcelona. Every single one was tied down with string.
Ok they were second hand and not in the best condition.
This was on a 45ft curtain sider, I made loops on the chassis for the STRING ties. They even went out  and fetched more bikes to load.
Delivery was to a shop in Southend, Essex.
A couple of ties snapped, but NOT one fell over.

one of the bikes was only 5 weeks old and they were all pretty badly beat up, the owners who were waiting for them refused to accept delivery and the police were ended up being called out .
