Title: The king is dead long live the king.
Post by: pross on July 18, 2015, 09:02:22 PM
Well ladies and gentlemen.
Finally the deal has been done after losing three bikes at the final stages ( they probably had better deals with no p/x )
I have finally changed the bike to a newer one .
Mine was a late 2009 Black the faster colour  :mfr_lol: with the storage on the tank approx 23000 miles on it .
The new baby is a 2014 with 1260 miles on the clock in graphite grey the next faster colour  :mfr_lol:
With the large service bill plus a rear Tps I was looking at around a grand so with the P/x it was a now brainier well impressed can't wait to put some miles on her spent today removing various farkels hopefully they will fit the new baby

I know the newer modal has the k-tract so any settings advice will be much appreciated

K-TraC on the 2010+ is an on/off affair.... but switchable anywhere - on the move or not....

Turn it off for wheelies and other tomfooleries.... and is not sticky - turn off the bike and it will turn back on.

Hold the left handle bar info button for 3 seconds - for approximately 10% increase in fuel economy - icon on display shows

The K-ACT ABS is switchable from approximately 75-25% braking to 50-50% braking - useful when fully loaded and two up - icon on display shows up.

Hold the screen up button when you turn it off to keep the screen from going down - useful for cleaning and polishing.

Otherwise, its a just ride it bike - but it rides fantastically and I wish I hadn't sold mine!  will be buying a replacement eventually...  :-)

Going to enjoy the KTM for the moment...

Neil, I was chatting to a chap in Pateley Bridge this lunch time who was on his recently acquired KTM 1290, he was impressed with the bike

How's yours going ?

Hmmmmmmm. O.C

I so want to love this bike and I do in lots of ways......

But I also am very disappointed! And have very much considered tracking my bike down (which I have) and buying it back......

Number of error codes ...  I've lost count....  The current one I can't get rid of is Suspension... Suspension... Suspension.........  Oh I've had damping failure, rear tyre pressure low, (oh and I have that on again...)  damping failure, CABS Failure, Clight Failure.....

The screen is bloody awful above 70mph (but had issues with the GTR until I sorted it...

However, it has so many good things about it, power modes that make a difference, suspension settings that make a difference, heated seats that work, heated grips that work, lots of information..  Great engine, handling and brakes, suspension load settings, the lights....

It's such a compromise of a bike, that I think it's really confused with multiple personalities ... It's a marmite bike.... I love the bike for so many reasons, but hate it for others!

Where's my GTR, oh yes I sold it........  And perhaps one day I'll buy another GTR when its is truly a flagship of Kawasaki again....  But right now.... It's pretty basic compared to the competition....

If it doesn't sort itself out before 10th August, I'm going back to the dealer... To look for a solution, software upgrade or something to sort the amount of errors.....  :-(

Anyway.... No going to moan anymore otherwise you guys will call me a grumpy old man!   19k on a bike....  Should have bought a new GTR and saved myself 5k....

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that Neil.

I know that you tested the KTM thoroughly before making your decision, which is of course the right thing to do, however no amount of testing can completely ensure that all will be well over the longer term, and in that respect its always a bit of a lottery buying a new/different bike.

The KTM does have lots of features but maybe its just a bit too new and, dare I say, experimental, at this stage of its production.

The guy I was chatting with in Pateley Bridge had only recently bought his so was obviously still very pleased.

I took a long deep breath before I purchased my Super Ten and I have to say that I am absolutely over the moon with the bike, I've now covered 7000 miles in 12 months and I have to say that the S10 is just getting better and better and......I love it, but acknowledge that it certainly wouldn't be every bikers choice, but it makes me happy and that's what counts.

I hope that things sort themselves out and the issues you are experiencing get sorted then you can fully enjoy your new bike. Let us know how things progress.

BTW I like Marmite
