Some insurance companies what to know if it's an important.
I had an import car once they call them greys and some dealers would not supply spares not sure about bikes.

Bye the way and welcome to the forum

Welcome to the forum. Personally I wouldn't go for an import knowingly, can I ask why you have and where you have ordered one from.

Perhaps it's a price issue, maybe they are considerably cheaper as an import I'm not sure.

I see that you are from Halifax, a local lad then, I work over there.

Welcome along Trickster

I think the import will be every bit as good as a U.K machine...however I would recommend that you check to ensure the bike is 'full power' as some French, I believe, models are restricted

technically its the safe bike so shouldn't make a difference, however the day you come to sell it or trade it , oh fuck me , you will regret it

Don't forget, if it is a European import, they drive on the other side of the road...

Takes a bit getting used to...with the controls switched on the handlebars left to right depending on what country you live in.

Leave him alone  :mfr_lol:

Personally I can't see anything wrong in buying an import..

Will you be liable to import duty etc?

If its imported ? is it a 2015 model?
Colour is the easy tell.

If its a US import it may not have ABS

Lower 48 states models are easy to spot, they have the wider saddle fitted as standard...............................

THANKS for all repllies guys. I have decided against the imported GTR. Was told on 15 plate but made enquies about bike and found out it was 06 model. so 10.000 for a o6 gtr  was a bit much . When i find another one i will be back . Thanks again TREV

It wouldn't be an 06 model as they weren't introduced until 2008

However there are some lovely examples out there for you to research ....good luck and keep us informed

Launched in 2007 but model year is 2008
When I was looking to buy I found a US import from Ohio.
Purchase price plus the cost of registering in UK  just didn't add up.

before buying an import bike i would check with your insurance company  first ,if my memory is right the insurance companies ask if your bike has been imported for some reason, probably to put up your premium.!!!!!!

If you have £10k to spend, why don't you get one that is about a year old (like I did). Save loads on buying new and still have the manufacture warranty etc.  I put handlebar risers and a scorpion exhaust as I found the handlebars were too low and I was hunched when riding and the stock exhaust doesn't suit the bike (IMO) and is far too quiet. The only other niggle are the foot pegs, they feel too high so legs are not in the right position for me. I had a 1250 bandit for the 4 years earlier and that fit me perfect with no mods at all, so am a little disappointed, but I guess its just a different set up that I got to get used to.

My other bike is a 1800 V Twin Intruder which I am now selling if you fancy that, instead of the GTR.

Have a look at the one that's up for sale now in The Market section. Lovely colour too.
