Title: Road Tax grrrr
Post by: shaggs147 on July 06, 2015, 07:46:48 PM
Just having a moan about the road tax!! £81 this time round, I'm sure it wasn't that much last time, but maybe I'm wrong.
Its becoming a joke that its £81 for a bike and yet there are cars out there racking up 30000 miles plus and paying bugger all.  :2guns:
I know fuel is expensive enough, but they should throw it all on that, then the more you use the road the more you pay.
Rant over, feel better now  :hammer:

Road Licence Fund increased by £1 this year!  I think......

:-)

Try nearly £300 for a 2 seater sports car..... and I can get more on the bike!  ;-)

Be careful what you wish for. Cars are taxed based on emissions ;)

The smile I get on my chops whilst riding my bike is worth every penny of the road tax charge

I have no problem paying the money that I know WILL (or should!) BE SPENT on developing and maintaining the current road network, as well as developing better and efficient public transport infrastructure.
That is .....if there's any left after..................go on - you can fill the list in - I wouldn't know where to stop

sorry to upset you , but road tax does not go into road maintenance , it goes into the general tax purse . The Highways budget comes out of general taxes and has done since about 1930's I believe.  So next time that lycra clad cyclist is holding you up and you are thinking he has no right to be on the road , if he pays income tax , he does .       haha

I don't mind paying the road tax, as OC said, its worth it for all the smiles riding the bike, and at least we're not riddled with toll roads. I just think we don't have the formula right. There's too many cars on the road paying bugger all due to the emissions rules. Think I must be turning into a grumpy old man haha.
