See this is a common mention in the topics of brakes............. cleaning / freeing up the bobbins.
Just bought a 2nd hand wheel with good discs for me old GSX750F as warped disc made it really horrible when braking.
Discs on replacement wheel were real floaters! Easily moved a mm or so by hand with little force, true as a die also.
Old disc bobbins were solid, which undoubtedly led to discs being warped!
Don't want to face the GTR discs being replaced through buckling, so how is the best way to clean and free up the bobbins?
Cant turn 'em by hand, tried with a rubber cone also but still no movement!
Is it a "G" Clamp on the bobbin and "wiggle it, just a little bit" (.......bet that gets you humming! )
Is a minimal drop of GT85 a wise thing or should they be dry and free?
Any words of wisdom appreciated!
I use a short bolt with a nyloc nut and a few flat washers and a spring washer.
I think its an M10, put it through the bobbin and nip it up till you can rotate the bobbin.
I use a combination spanner and a 3/8 socket and ratchet.
Now take the straw that comes with brake cleaner warm one end and tap it with a hammer till the end is flat and slightly splayed, this end will fit between the inner fixed carrier and the floating disc.
You can now rotate the bobbin whilst spraying brake cleaner straight into where its needed and watch as all the crap pools in the wheel rim.
I did a lttle video on this , see if I can find it
keep some downwards pressure on the wrench to get a better purchase on the bobbin, spray some brake cleaner into them if they wont turn

Thanks Folks! Sorted and jobs a good one!
Used the 10mm bolt, and used my windy gun to apply a bit of impact and spin whilst spraying brake cleaner on, yep certainly washes the gunk out!
I don't think you can do that with the EBC's can you? Good video. Thanks!
no i just tried and they are not turnable. but you can wiggle them!

Yet more great advice from the forum, I am changing pads on the new bike this weekend and this will be one of the jobs.
Thanks all.
8 new bikes and countless used ones ive never had warped discs
I've had slipped discs before  'Wiggling' wasn't an option !
