Just fitted a set of brembo pads to the beast and its developed a real bad brake squeak.
I smeared a bit of copper grease on the back and edge of the pads as usual, but never had a squeak issue on a bike like this before. I've stripped them apart and checked it all but can't seem to get rid of it...... Any ideas????
Mine got sqeaky when I fitted some Ferodo pads a few years ago. I fixed it by cleaning the calipers and copious amounts of copper grease on the back of the pads. Recently went back to EBC pads which are much better.
a few extra things to try , file or sand the trailing edges of the new pads . There are some anti squeal kits on ebay these days which use a rubber backing pad and a proper anti squeal paste . The noise is caused by a high frequency viabration of the pad usually caused by dirt , poor seating or even a warped disc .
don't overdo it with the copper slip through fear of it getting onto your discs
you may end up taking the pads out getting the calpiers over a bucket and spraying a shed load of brake cleaner into them
My Gtr had noisy brakes from the day it was new , the dealer wasn't able to solve it but I eventually managed to shut them up at about 4k miles
:goodpost:
Don't forget to clean the crap out of disk bobbins, these are meant to "float" but if they get filled with road crud they seize solid and the discs will warp.
There are numerious vids on the 'net on this subject
thanks everyone... I'll strip it down again and try all the above 😏
Or alternatively just re-fit the same brand of pads you had.
silly question but can anyone tell me the part number for the front/rear HBC pads please?
UPDATE!!!!!!!!
Took a square file to the inside of the calipers where the pads sit and sprayed loads of brake cleaner into them. Then filed the edges of the pads and applied copper grease.. Again.. Seems to of done the job
Thanks for the tips
