Title: New headlight unit fitted.
Post by: PaulB on June 27, 2015, 11:48:31 PM
Holy :shit: what a pain in the arse job that was.

Full fairing removal (except belly-pan), screen, screen bracket, wing mirrors... all have to be removed.

As for the bit of fairing round the headlight... that needed the lovechild of an allen key and a phillips screwdriver.

When you finally get to it, a single 8mm bolt!! 4 pegs hold it in as well.

Then bulb removal: could Kawasaki have made it any more difficult???

I'd planned on upgrading to HID xenons as well, but as the "simple" headlight change took me so much longer than I'd planned, that'll have to wait for another day - or a whole weekend maybe :death:

Cheers

You had to change whole unit... How come?   You maybe fitted angel eyes like some did already (cfr bmw 1600) ?  Or glass was broken...?

Changing both bulbs took 5 minutes....

It's called a Torx bit, avalable from all good motor factors and pretty commonly used these days.  :mfr_lol:

Glass broken

Only 5 minutes??? Is that with the headlight unit in situ? If so... Very impressive dexterity!!

:mfr_lol: No mate, I know what a Torx bit is, and have a decent set

Think of an Allen key, but the short leg, instead of being hexagonal bar, was actually a Phillips screwdriver... Needed to remove screws with about 1/2 inch clearance where you'd normally have room for a screwdriver

Maybe something like the attached pic would have made life easier :mfr_lol:

easy enough to change the bulbs in situ
