Going to France in July , have breakdown cover ,and have the European health card , do you need any more cover if the worst should happen should you take out more cover ,what do other people do ,
Decent travel insurance is a must.
A mate of mine is *still* in hospital in Northern Spain after putting his bike into a ditch (broken ribs, punctured lung). That happened nearly a month ago.
Insurance is paying for his wife to be there (hotel etc). Sure, the EHIC card will cover medical expenses, but there are always other costs involved in the event of something bad happening.
Cheers

:goodpost:
id take private health insurance that is specific for a bike and that has repatriation . Nearly all health insurance policys are exempt from motorbike use over 125cc due to it being a dangerous activity , only bike policies will cover you .
If you get badly injured or die your ehic card will not pay for a plane ambulance , imagine spending 6 weeks in a sweaty gringo hospital because you cant afford the 10k for aviator ambulance .

An EHIC will just get you what you get free from the NHS ,paid for in the EU country.
As mentioned, Travel insurance that specifically covers motorcycle riding [and it is worth ensuring that it includes you on your bike, not just hiring a twist and go when out there], is an absolute must.

... as my mate's wife has just found out, as they just had "standard" travel insurance. They're not going to pay for anything, so she's in a hotel at her own expense right now. And when he's discharged, they still have to get home. He won't be medically cleared to fly for 2 weeks after discharge (punctured lung) so it looks like an overland journey to Santander/Bilbao.
