Title: KiPass
Post by: dokterdave on June 10, 2015, 01:50:41 PM
If my Kipass ECU is dead, would anybody know of a replacement that wont cost upwards of £1000

Waiting for the dealer to get back to me as to the cause of the breakdown on Monday.

Best bet would be eBay.

Are the US versions compatible with the UK bikes? If so, might be worth asking on the US forums as well

i left my ignition on the other day and the battery went dead flat. kipass obviously stopped working as there wasn't enough juice to turn the key even.

i did that I parked on a slope and turned the kill switch off to leave it in gear , and forgot to turn off the main switch ,came back and it was flat , the way round it was to take the fuse out so the front light stayed out ,then the ignition would come on and the dials can do there thing ,then with a push managed to get it jumpstarted ,while the lights stay on it will not reset the clocks ,  :biker3:

Am I right in thinking if your battery is dead you cant recharge it in order for the kipass to work

A totally discharged battery can usually be recharged assuming that there are no underlying issues such as a dead cell.  However, it's really best not to let that happen as that can sometimes (even if the battery was good before) weaken said battery.

Sorry VJ What I meant was if the battery discharges and its recharged will the kipass be ok or need any reprogramming ?

KiPass will be fine after a charge from a completely dead battery

Don't ask how I know...

That's correct.  The only setting that gets lost on my 08 is the clock if the battery is disconnected.
