Title: Hello from across the pond
Post by: jasonc32amg on May 29, 2011, 09:16:17 PM
Greetings,

South Florida, USA here. I came across this forum when doing some research on my bike. It's an '09 Red ABS I picked up last week. I scored a sweet deal on it as a "leftover" and the red had always been my favorite color. Previous Kawasaki's include, begining with my first bike, KDX 80, H2 750,  ZX6E, ZX9B2, '01 ZX12, '05 ZX10, '08 ZX10, 09 KLR 650, '05 Nomad 1600.

I'm only 400 miles into this one but so far it's exceeding all expectations.

Thanks for the information I've already gleaned from the forum and the free service manual  ;D

Hi ya Jason, and welcome.

I do like the look of the GTR in red! It has never been available in the UK, but I would have had one if it had.

It must be terrible owning a GTR in Florida...... constant warm weather and great roads, I bet a fender extender and hugger are not high on your shopping lists LOL

All the best

Hi ya Jason welcome to the forum, like yourself I found lots of info from this site before I bought my bike (2011 in green), lots of help if needed and experienced people who know what they are talking about to guide you through things. Enjoy the bike, and your Florida sunshire.    ps I was out yesterday in the English "Yorkshire dales" in the middle of summer time,                   with the heated grips ON.    cheers Geoff.  ;D

Hi Jason and welcome.

Must be terrible to own a bike in constant hot weather  ;D I wouldn't mind the red myself. I've been on the lookout to buy a full second hand fairing kit from the US on eBay, but they're just too expensive.

Enjoy the ride!

;D I took the wife out for out 5th anniversary last night and we had a couple of juicy steaks ;D

We actually get many customers from GB through our store in Delray. Good folks and always pleasant as can be; quite a contrast from some of the whiney locals.

We may have sunshine but you guys have curves & castles.  ;)

Of that I am truly envious. Road trips to another state are an all day affair here and flying is an utter PITA thanks to our inspector clouseau security procedures. On the downside it looks like our puritanism is coming back your way...I read that the Dutch are going to ban tourists from smoking cannabis. Heresy!

Hello

Yeah great to see your Photos of the Bike in Red Jasson...Have you got any issues with heat while on the Bike. Ive heard like the Fjr you can get very hot , especially in hot countries like yours.

It gets a bit warm but it's no real bother. Most of my big bore bikes (hayabusa, zx12, etc) have been on the warm side when in traffic. I spend most of my time on the interstate between 80-100mph and it's not an issue during that type of riding.

If you want to survive I95 in Florida you have to stay 5mph ahead of the cages. These folks are nuts with average speeds in the 80's while they upgrade their status on Facebook and sip their Starbucks.  :o

Hi Jason & welcome. The bike looks great in Red  :)

Yesterday I too was riding with the heated grips on max and doing the monkey hunch behind the (poor) standard screen. 'Sunny' Scotland in June!
