So, 4 bikes, and car containing 2 wives and lots of luggage leave England. We get to Portsmouth, have a smooth crossing, get to the stopover hotel, all without incident.
En route from Spain to Portugal (bikes on the small roads, car on motorway) one of the guys went wide on a left-hander, hit gravel at the edge, and ended up in a ditch. 9 broken ribs and a punctured lung. Still in ICU in Spain. [And no, we weren't riding like silly buggers I assure you. I was behind him at the time.]
So, lots of heading over the mountain passes from Portugal to Spain to see mate in hospital. That's when my bike developed an "FI Error" and wouldn't go past 3500rpm. That lasted a day. The next day, no FI error, but wouldn't rev past 6000rpm (which I needed to pull past trucks in 3rd gear when the 2 lane uphill section started.)
Went online, looked up nearest Kwaka service center (in Braga) which turned out to be a Honda dealer. Wasted 3 hours there just to find out they didn't have a cable to connect to the bike. Strangely, on my own on the way home, the bike behaved perfectly. Dodgy fuel, maybe?? Who knows.
The final bummer was a few days later, on a ride out, some little old guy in a Clio pulled in front of me off a roundabout, and then promptly emergency stopped on a pedestrian crossing - his front wheels ended up half way across the crossing. I have a photo. Consequently, I hit the anchors hard and headed down the side of him. My headlight hit his rear quarter, and smashed.
So, an "eventful" holiday to say the least.
Never a dull moment eh Paul,....hope your mate recovers quickly
Blimey Paul, eventful is an understatement! Hope everything gets sorted out soon with your mate and your bike.
